home depot lip: did a search but nothin came up
i just bought a stock front bumper for my 89 hatch...i cant afford to buy a lip rite now and would like to know how to put in a home depot lip...call it ghetto but i am a struggling college student...i did a search but didnt came up with any good diy techniques to do this...anything would help...
It is actually pretty simple. I have it on my 4 door EF and also CRX. Go to the gardening section of home depot, look for garden guttering. They are black and come in different width, you will need to get the 5 inch gutter. In case they are not actually called the gardening gutter, they are used normally to put on the edge of a flower bed, in order to prevent soil overflow.
I believe they come in a 12feet packet for $6.99. It will also help to get some self-tapping screws while you are there at home depot. Cut the guttering to the correct length and screw it down on the bottom side of the bumper. Put a screw every 4~5 inches. When you first complete the project, you will see that there are dimples, caving in and out. Don't worry about that, let the guttering settle and all blemish, dimples, dents, will all eventually go away.
Let me know if you need any other help. I will put some pictures up later.

thanks for the feedbacks...
Well, here are some pictures of the front lip.
Let me know what you all think. Personally, I think that this lip is well worth the $7. It is scratch proof and stays pretty intact.

here's what mine looks like. i used the other side, without the round piece.. i cut that off:
a little far away, though...
after about 2 years, it's looking pretty bad.. i'll have to re-do it soon.
if that pic doesn't work, copy and paste this: http://www.geocities.com/redrexersan...s/P1010054.JPG into your browser.

Mine is the base cove molding...
I layed it on the bumper and lined it up straight.
Riveted it every 5-6 inches or so.
This is what it looked like after a trip on the interstate.
So I braced it on the back side with a 4' pc of 1.5" aluminum flat stock also from Home Depot.
And this is what it looks like now...
EDIT: Had to fix a link.

hey Lost Projects, what did you use to cover up the screws? looks like another material? or is that what the stuff you used looks like?
Hey guys,
I did not use anything to cover up the screws. I will take some pictures today. Instead of doing what Jeff C did, putting the screws on the outside. I used self tapping screws and screwed the lip onto the bumper from the underside. In between the screws, I left about 4~5 inches. Again, as I have said before, it's fairly easy to do. When you first get done, there will be indentions and what appears to be dents. Don't worry about those, there's nothing you can do to get rid of those. Once the lip settles, the indentions/dents will go away.
Guys, I hate being on Trial status, every time I want to post something, I always hits the 5 post limit. Sucks.
Well, here are some more pictures of the lip that I promised. I tried to get better pictures of the screws, hope this is good enough.
