Default Spoon n1 and Apex n1 review for "eg" hatch

Lets start with the
Apex n1

This was my first exhaust and was bought around 3 years ago. At this time i couldn't find anyone who had this on their hatch, i didn't know what i was in for. When it arrived I unpacked it and looked it over, the qualitly seemed to me fairly good but i was worried about the coating they put on the pipeing to prevent rust/corrosion not lasting very long. It came with all hardware and gaskets for installation, a silencer, as well as heat wrap to wrap the section of pipe that goes around the gas tank. The cannister is nice polished stainless steel and all welds looked good. It is a two piece system with a one piece b-pipe and axle back.

Installation was cake once I got the old exhaust off. A few bolts and gaskets later and you're done. Great! time to take it for a test drive... Jack it up remove the jack stands and bam, instant ground clearance reduction. In combination with my neuspeed race springs this thing was hanging a mear 1.5in off the ground at most. My reaction was WTF! I drove the car like this for a few years and scraped the hell out of the cannister in that time period. I could hardly drive anywhere. If there was a bump in the road it scraped it, hit a dip in the road it scraped, hell i even scraped on rocks that found there way on the roads, and forget about speed bumps and most driveways. The protective coating did start to wear and rust did begin to develop over time.

Spoon n1

I bought the spoon n1 and t1r (Type One Racing) b-pipe just recently and am very pleased. When it arrived it unpacked it and inspected the parts. Very nice, the b-pipe is all polished stainless steel with wonderful welds but upon further inspection there was no hardware or gaskets. This was a mistake that should have been included. I bought stainless hardware from Lowes and got a gasket from autozone which took care of that problem. The spoon n1 looked very small, it's much smaller then the apex n1. All the welds were A+ and very clean and came with a silencer as well.

This system uses a exhaust flange (doughnut) gasket to connect the b-pipe to the axle back. My stock 93 si hach gasket did not fit, i had to buy the gasket for an Integra. Again installation is fairly simple in comparison. Bolt everything up, double check my work and lower it down. Ahhh what a difference, i can now drive my car. Start it up and much deeper then the apex n1. Then i hear a rattle . I later removed a heatshield and am going to wrap that part with heat wrap.

Looks good. I think I remember you posting before about how bad the ground clearance with the Apex was. The Spoon looks much better.

great review. although the Spoon N1 might be more practical, i still think the Apex'i has it covered in the looks dept.

i brightened up the pic because, i personally had a hard time discerning the pipe from the car and ground.

I wonder how they sound on the car tho? He never said about the sound of them.

Over here in the UK a universal muffler ,Apexi N1, costs a whopping £287, in dollars thats: $464!!!!
I want to put 2 on my EK hatch but at those prices i think ill have to give it a miss.
Thats why id like to know how well it sounded, i heard they are awesome.

I don't, it's too big and looks funny hanging off the back of the little hatch.

Does anyone know if the Apex WS has a similar problem with scraping? Right now, my new hatch is stock but I plan on lowering it.

Cool review.

I love the angle look of the N1, but 1.5 inches off the ground, that's too low!
