excedy clutch making spinning noise
my friends and I just installed a excedy clutch on my car. Everything went well but when you press the pedal all the way down it makes a strange spinning noise. Does anybody know if this is normal or if i have a problem?
i had the same problem, same clutch
you'll need a 12mm open end wrench
adjust the clutch pedal
fix it before you make it worse
what your hearing is the throwout bearing going too far and actually pressing the pressure plate fingers into the clutch.

What is this strange spinning problem are you talking about? I think I might have the same problem but i'm not sure. It just when everytime I press down the clutch pedal to shift the pedal feel like something touching it? help me out
wow, i thought that was just my clutch breaking in. Exedy gave me a sheet but it is smeared to where i cant read the last half of it. It mentions that shifting can be very hard if there is too much travel but nothing about spinning noise.
Can someone explain further how to adjust the push rod on the clutch pedal? and about how much should the travel be lessened. tia

the strange spinning noise happens because the clutch and the pressure plate are slightly thicker than stock(it is an aftermarket clutch-meant for stronger powered engines so that's why there is more material). basically all you have to do is turn the adjutment bolt about half a turn that will take care of this issue. also it will make the feel of the clutch a lot different from what you guys are used to. it will put the first engagement point of the clutch very high on the pedal stroke, full engagemenmt won't happen until you actually mash the pedal al the way to the ground though. so for me, it took about a week to get used to the highter release point. other than that i sort of like it because the clutch is easier to work with. this is becasue it requires very little movement on the clutch pedal to disengage a gear. and it has an almost perfect pedal stroke when compared to how long it takes to shift the car to the next gear.
