Default FS: Full out, full race D16A6 CRX road race engine

For Sale: New full prep. 13.5:1 compression, Honda Challenge, SCCA E Production, GT or all-motor drag race '88-91 1600cc SOHC Honda race engine (D16A6) long block (valve cover to the oil pan). Fully ported, machined, and prepped by Comptech (builder of top Acuras, Hondas and IRL engines).

A 1600 cc copy of Steve Cook's Runoffs winning GT4 Comptech motor. All the good parts, no corners cut, I spent the money to do it right. New, never started and still packed in pre-lube. Too many parts to list here but lots of Mugen this and specialty that. Can run carbs or fuel injection. Ready to drop in your car, just add intake and header to go.

Losing my shirt big time but priced at $6000 to sell soon. Have many receipts. Call or email for full info.

Time and budget are moving me to LP FP and this killer engine is too much for those rules and I need to finish the car.

What's wrong with the specs? It's a professionally done engine with no expenses spared and no corners cut: Titanium valve keepers, Mugen cam and bearings, trick valve springs, AEM rods, JE pop up pistons, gorgeous full porting, balanced individually and rotating, etc. Built to turn 9,000 rpm regularly and 9,500 in a pinch. All brand new.

This is the real deal for a discount price. You can't build this for under $10K. My class changed to a stock rod, 10:1 compression rule with minimal IT porting so my loss is the buyer's gain.

His ref. to the specs is the extent of the work done. While it is most assurdately a great engine, it is prepared beyond the prep limits of where most if not all of us compete. eg Honda Challenge, IT, etc.

Good Luck.

I haven't run the car yet so I haven't been to a Honda Challenge race but I spoke to their "powers that be" and they said I could run it. I have a friend who has run Honda Challenge in a similar first gen with a bit less engine prep. They actually had a bigger issue with my 23x 9.50 x 15 race slicks vs. DOT tires than they did with the engine so I figured I'd put on some of the remaining DOTs from my IT days and run it when they get an event closer to me. I did the ITA CRX thing for quite a few years and jumped when the SCCA put the CRX into Production classes so my wife and I could run National races for the Runoffs. Job, a kid and a class change slowed that down so now this is too much engine.

Hi Lee: Can't use the engine, but good to have you around. Our car is nearly done-just a refresh on the Si motor for IT as you suggested a while back.

The pistons and rods will keep that motor out of H1. If you can put Honda bottom end parts in, it should be a nice H1 motor.

Someone needs to buy this motor, stick it in a gutted 88 Civic hatch and go harass John Thomas in E Prepared.

Hmmm.

Oh, I'm just on the lookout for a prepped IT motor, that's all. Nothing wrong with the specs other than that. That's what I was talking about.

Perhaps, but no one has built a good 4th gen Civic yet for EP. Someone needs to give it a whirl, and this motor would be almost perfect.

And don't forget that anyone can be beat on any given day
