If I told you a solid year i'd be lying to you. I don't know. When I took the motor out I could tell it had been taken out before. All I can say for sure is that the block read D16Y8

There is a year stamp on the head by the #1 piston and exhaust manifold.

I'll let you know tomorrow, I never did notice a year casted into the head but will take a closer look.

tranny has been sold ... motor is still available for pick up $100 ... will ship for $150 plus shipping ... the reason for the mark up is its just not worth all my effort to have it shipped for only $100. Hope you guys understand.

Hold on ... lets put two and two together. I was really looking through the motor yesterday. The cylinder head has been taken off before. It's fresh, apparantly was milled and cleaned. The block does say D16Y8, so logic dictates someone overheated the block or threw a rod or something bad enough that the stock block wasnt able to be salvaged. They had the head refreshed and found a block from a 98 civic. Either way the head's been milled. How much? Who knows. All I know is I drove the car into the shop and the motor felt fine. Whoever did the work didn't do a bad job.
