Anyone relocate their battery to the trunk??
Hi guys, anyone do this yet?? Particualrly in 4th Gens. but any will do.
I am thinking about getting a small light weight battery and mount it into the trunk. I am hoping it will fit in the wheel well but if not I want to put it on the right side of the car in the trunk.
Any ideas??? Advice??

I think http://www.summitracing.com offers trunk relocation kits.
AWESOME. Can you psot the details how you did it?? I really want to do this. I am going to get a lightweigth battery and mount it on the pass. side in the trunk.
I am wondering how I can best run the cables through the car and to the starter.
Thanks

i did mine for about $2.
what i used:
- 6 gauge copper cable from Home Depot
- sandpaper (for a good ground on chassis)
easy. DIY. I wouldn't waste money on a kit, imo.

I ran mine throught the front passenger fender instead of the firewall. Ive heard using house wire is bad. I tried it and had bad luck with it, plus its a bitch to bend.
I just sanded, and grounded to a strong point in the chassis, then ran the wire under the carpet. Make sure you use good connectors to the starter that wont get loose. Last thing you want is a bare cable grounding out. (i looked under the hood one day and this happened. bare wire was hanging like 1mm from the chassis. I got lucky

So when you ran it through the pass. side fender well is there a existing hole that you can run the wire through or do you have to drill a hole???

BTW> when you say in via the fender, you don't mean you looped it by the door do you? If so, DO NOT do this, as it's very poor practice and opening and closing the door can eventually take away the insulation.

There is a guy on EBAY that sells battery relocation kits that are the BEST for the money.....he's out in Las Vegas if I remember correctly, that's where I got mine for like 40 shipped or something. He used welding wire for the cables.....
I put mine in my trunk also, let me know if you want pics of stuff.....

AndyD - if you lift up the carpet near the ECU, you'll see a wire grommet thing. I just poked a hole in this and coaxed the wire to go through the fender. It'll come out in an existing hole near where the battery already is. IN the picture below, you'll see the two IC pipes on the passenger side. The hole is right about there.
This is why I love this site.

When I put my H22 in I am going to run the cables to the trunk and also take out my whole AC components.

Now I know this helps with acheiving neutral weight distrobution, but honestly how much? Does it even make the f/r ratio change 1%? It would be interesting to test, hmmm.

F the weight ratio. i had to do it to make room for turbo.. less weigh on the front wheels means less traction..
i did mine my self for 15 bucks. buy some 2 gauge or 4 u can get away with 4. theres a hole in you trunk right there on right. remove gromet and run wires down there. you can ground it on that tow hook. i attached my wire to fire wall **** under there and ran to front. then go to stereo shop and get a power distribution block( i had 1 from old stereo) and mount it right there to fender well right under fuse box. then hook wire from strarter in it and the wire from fuse box. and there it is. if your in a 3rd gen. now you can put in you CAI.
www.knuconceptz.com has 1/0 gauge for $2.25 a foot.
i've been using 4 gauge, for a while now and no problems. go to home depot. its the same **** as stereo shop, just different color and it ranges from .31-.75 a foot. and i used 15 feet in a 3rd gen and it was enough to do what i needed.
