Default Radio code

I just bought a 1999 Civic, and it didn't come with either the owner's manual or the code for the radio. I was just wondering what is the best and cheapest way to get the manual and the code?

Thanks for the help

Have fun getting that info. You need a VIN then go to the dealer where that car was bought and get the code. Other then that you are screwed.

Try posting it in the EG+ forum. They might be able to help.

just think of it as a sign to get a new head unit ...check around best buy for the open box items...you'd be surprised the good deals you can get...or just get a cheap one...i got a jvc one a about a year ago for like $130 and its good enough for me...simple and not too flashy at all...good luck

you dont actually need to go to the selling dealer. you can go to any honda dealer with the serial number off the radio and they will get you the code. if you want IM me your serial number and ill get you the code.

Ya then that dealer has to go searching for that code. You seriously think they'll do that??? For free even.... HAHAHAHA No. I work at a dealer....

The only cars that we have radio codes for are the new cars that were sold through us....

im assuming you are talking about your own service records which yes would have to be obtained from the selling dealer and would take a little (but not a whole lot) of time to locate. but im telling him to give them the serial number from the radio. with that any dealer can get the radio code on their interactive network. your dealer may have only new radios on file but with the interactive network i can get a code for ANY honda radio from honda.
also the manual you can get from helminc.com.

when someone comes to the dealership and says they need a radio code we give them 2 options.
1. take out the radio bring it down along with some proof of ownership and we do what ive been saying.

2. they pay the service dept time to r&r the radio and we do the same thing.

If you need a radio code, I can help too. Just do what E-Town4229 is saying and I can get you the code, for free. All I need is the serial # from the back of the radio.
I work for Honda, and no, not at a dealership.

Funny that your talking about this. I have the 99 si (SIR here in Canada) cd deck for my 91 hatch. Took me forever to find someone to sell it to me for cheap. I looked for one of these for ever (hey I like stock) And I was loving it. Until it broke. Now the damn thing wont play cds. It just says error and spits em back out. I cant take it to a dealer couse they think its stolen (its not). They wont even look at it. I acaully got into an argument with the manager of one of the local honda places about it. Long story short, Its going to cost me about 200 bucks to fix through a friend of a friend. CRAP. Any of you guys who work for honda heard of these decks spitting out cds and saying error before and if so whats wrong with it??

Oh yeah, it only started happening AFTER I started playing copied cds in it.
