My guess would be clear ones that have been painted. My 98 coupe ones look like that after I painted them, no red surrounds. Pretty easy to do, but try finding clears these days......

top are clears painted
second are red/clears

like said in above post they are clears cuz the red surround/border is not on the first one, whereas the red/clears look like oem cuz they do have the red border

There was a paint shop where I used to live that would shoot your brake lights with candy red paint and then shoot clear over the whole things for $20/pair. Came out much better than the people that just used spray paint. Check your local paint shops and see if they'll do it for you.

I repainted the amber part on my 96-98 tailights red and it came out really good...

I used testors candy apple red paint, and I also used their clearcoat.

taken from TEAM INTEGRA http://www.team-integra.net !

"I painted my alteezas and they turned out really good. The reason I did it was because everyone round my area is sportin the chrome alteezas, and I guess I just got tired of em. So here it is, if you have any other questions see the FAQ at the bottom. If ya still got some questions just holler, haha.

Paint used: Krylon stained glass color and Duplicolor clear coat

1. clean off surface real good.

2. Prop the tail lights up so they're facing up

3. Now spray on a light layer of paint. Use nice even strokes and hold the can about 8 inches away from the light. Let it dry for about ten minutes, and put on another layer paint. Again try not to make the layers too think because it will run and don't hold the can in one place for too long. Just keep repeating the spray and dry steps until you think you've got the tail lights as red as you want them. After you've got the desired color let it dry for an hour or so. Then go back and repeat the spray and dry steps with some clear coat. I put about 3 coats of paint and 3 coats of clear.

4. Let the clear dry and reinstall voila, DIY crystal reds.

Here are some pics:

Before

During

After

"

i am going to do exactly what this guy did.

I'd rather have the red on top and the clear on bottom and just switch the bulbs. This could be done also right?

Trust me when I say it looks better than spray can. The clear coat on top makes it all even (so you can't feel where the paint starts) along with making the lens look brand new and keeping them that way. Up to you though.

i tried that also a few years back. prob is, the reflectors are still in the bottom half of the housing. cops will still give you a hard time because those reflectors have to be red also...

yeah, but the back-up lights are red.

as long as it works... im sure cops would rather bust me on my exhaust tone or my lacking front lisence plate than a clear reflector.

thanks guys.
