96-98 to 99-00 front end conversion?
i've seen jdm factory fogs for the 96-98 front end. i forget where i saw them i guess they're pretty rare. a front end conversion is alot of money that could be better spent on performance
not worth it IMHO you need the hood bumpers fenders and grille, so if you wanna do all that just so you can put in fog lights be my guest.
lol...isnt it just the bumper?

um no.. noob learn more before you speak.. its the front bumper, both fenders, hood, radiator support, headlights.. it does look better but i would only do it if insurance was doing acuse an accident or something unless youc an get all the parts and labor cheap as hell

You don't need to change out the radiator support to use a 99-00 front end on a 96-98 Civic. You just need headlights, hood, fenders, bumper.
I love the 99-00 front end, glad my EK is a 99 and that I got it cheap otherwise i'd own a 96-98 and be hating the front end.

i have a 98 hatch and i got into an accident so i am putting a 99-00 front end on. its not worth it unless the front end is wrecked. dont do it unless you have money just lying around. its a waste of money. and you dont need the radiator support. just headlights, fenders, bumper, hood, and grill.
i have a 96 hatch. My front end is not damaged but I converted the front to the 99-00. I think it's worth every penny. I paid around $250 for the SI conversion. No radiator support needed.
no radiator support needed
but if you want it to be perfectly oem, the radiator supports are different so you would technically need it
i used a 96-98 radiator support on my 99-00 front end
but when my radiator support was damaged, i switched it out to a 99-00 one
to fit the 99-00 bumper on the 96-98 radiator support you need to snip the bumper a bit, but its nothing that you can see
the radiator support isnt worth it imo if you just want to convert to the 99-00 style but if you damage your front end, you might as well switch it out

can anybody please post pics of where they had to make slits. I put my 99-00 front end today and it doesnt line up right. i had to slide the bumper underneath the frame instead of ontop how it normally goes. here's a pic to better show you what im talking about.
the red part is underneath instead of ontop because it wont fit. Someone please show me a pic of where to cut it or give an explanation. thanks
Also, does the grill and bumper need to go in together?

What exactly is the difference in appearance of a 96-98 front end versus a 99-00 front end? I can't tell the difference between the 2 models without looking at the taillights or headlights.

bumpers- 96: just one opening in front.
99: 3 openings
Lights- 96: smaller
99: larger

this is the GAYEST answer ever to any damn question.

whats wrong with wanting to make "your" car look better/different?
his money, his problem, his decissions.

I mean, I am also not really an aestetics-minded person, I also prefer performance. However, I don't feel the need to push that on everyone else... every aestetic-related question posted here gets filled with that kinda responses. I wonder how they'd like it if everytime someone asked a performance-related question, 20 people chimed in with "waste of money, blah blah, buy a bodykit" ...
But that's the vicious cycle of the internet I guess... people hide behind flickering screens so unwanted opinions fly freely... *shrugs*

I have done the swap before and you kind of do and don't need the radiator
support. It's kind of hard to explain w/o a pic but here goes ok, first where you
circled the clips, that needs to be cut starting from the hole for the clip on the
radiator support in towards the middle of the car, an L shapped cut is needed,
lined up w/ the outer edge of the hole . If you compare, which I did b/c mine is a
99 and my friends is a 96 the tab that holds the bumper that you circled on the on
the pic is wider on the 96-98 than on the 99-00 not letting to 99 front bumper line
up. You have to cut the tab on the rad. sup. and redrill the hole for the clip, really
no big deal it's really easy, and it also looks a lot better than cutting the actual
bumper. And it's actually harder to mess up than what it sounds, I got it right the
first time and I don't think I could have ever messed it up. But I did this to
another friends car w/ the 99 rad. sup.
and it fit like a dream, but both fit good.
