i just got my car weighed at a local gravel pit. I have a 91 hatch w/o all rear panels seats and pasenger seat. it was 2,050 lbs! i was suprized but that is without me in it and my goal is around 1,900 lbs. without driver so what car i remove to get that goal met? a/c,heat,anything else?
AC will drop a considerable amount of wieght. It dropped like 115 lbs from my car. that should put you close to your weight. The compressor itself weighs a bunch, throw in the lines, the fan and the underdash stuff and you will be skinny like richard simmons...

i don't know what kind of AC system you had in it. but i weighted my parts after removal. 35lbs
of cource no coolant was present, but i doubt it is more than a few ounces.
my sunroof is next, followed by bumper support (replaced by custom, chrome moly ones)

Scrape off underbody coating, sound deadening material, and use lexan on non rolling windows. Wheels are a great weight savings, for every one pound off unsprung weight is equal to two pounds total, even greater the farther out you can get it (tires). Seats are an easy way to shed 50+lbs also.
My AC was around 35 lbs too, that was just the underhood items (lines, compressor, coolant resivor, condensor). Figure also a header weights less than the stock cast manifold. If you replace your seats with aftermarket ones sometimes depending on the seat you buy you can loose a little there. Even replacing your stock steering wheel with a momo saves weight if you really wanna get down to little stuff haha.
I weighed my DX Hatch at a Landfill Weighing thing a couple months ago just without rear seats and no spare and it was 2,040 without me. But now I got rear discs, sway bars and other crap, I need to reweigh it but their scales aren't accurate all the time as each one will give a different reading.

Obviously the A/C, heater. Get super light wheels. Gut the interior. Get aftermarket header/exhaust. Not only are they lighter but give better performance. I mean if you do all that you should be well below 2000 lbs.

thanks for all your help. I just have one last thing to ask. has anyone takin out there heating? how much did it weigh?
Actually the lightest CRX is the 88 HF. I think they are in at about 1890 lbs? It's somewhere around their and they are basically about 300lbs lighter than a 90-91 Si. That is something to consider if you really want a fast car. That is the best body to go with. I mean 300 lbs is a huge difference especially for light cars.

I've got a '90 STD. All interior is gutted, tar removed, no heat or A/C. Has a CRX dash and console and still has door panels only. I've also got HX wheels and a stock B16.
I weighed it with only one '00 Integra leather seat and very little gas and it weighed 1930lb. without me in it.
Everything is removed, but nothing really cut out. I just removed the rear seat mounting brackets, and the jack holding bracket. I was kinda pissed about the weight with so much removed, but now it's time to start cutting.

Mine (88DX 4 dr) is 2060 with a B18a, DA brakes all around, 90 teg wheels, 1/8 tank, and no tar, stereo, AC, spare, jack or heat. The rest of the interior is there, though (plastic, back seat etc).

Provided your car has power steering (Not sure that it does, my 89 dx does). I was told removing power steering removes about 50 pounds. But daily driving will be less appealing with this.
NO, NO, NO,
A 87 CRX does not weigh around 1500 lbs. It weighs at the lowest, 1700 lbs. And to even suggest anything near 1200 lbs is simply ludicrious. Formula 1 race cars weigh about that much. Get the facts straight. I could be wrong but my educated guess is that a 87 CRX can weigh no less than 1700 lbs. Someone let me know if i'm wrong.

my crx weighs 1980 with me in it (~230 lbs) and a full roll cage.
I wouldn't put much stock in your loval gravel pit scale, unless it's been recently certified. try a truck stop gas station, or call up your local department of licensing and find out where the local certified scales are at.
