Intermitant wipers
Just wondering what it would take to go from non intermitant wipers, 93 Civic CX, to intermitant wipers, as in the Si. (I'd like to have the Si arm as it has the rear wiper, too. I'll be installing one of those later)
Is it as simple as installing the Si's arm, or does it require wiring and a relay?
By arm I mean the combination switch.
I'm thinking it is a relay on the fuse block, but is it just the arm and relay, or is there more to it?

Whatever it takes isn't worth it. The lowest setting is way too fast, and the faster settings are way too slow. Are your wipers all or nothing/either on or off?

my hatch really sucks too. I have all 3 modes on the arm. but only the slow mode works. whats up with that.bought the car like that.(salvaged). so when it rains lightly wiper moves too fast and when it rains heavy its too slow its driving me crazy. just wanted to share.
LOL...I didn't know I wasn't alone with this issue.
Not having intermitant wipers was the one thing I hated about my cx.
It bugs me so much. When its just sprinkling out, the first setting on my wipers is way too fast. The blades start squeaking cuz the winshield is dry after the first pass of the wipers.
I really wanna know how I can get them also!!!

This is funny...
Everyone wants 3-speed wipers, but nobody knows how to do it!
It doesn't matter that the intermitant wipers, as in the EX and LX, suck. My girl's car is an LX. They aren't adjustable, but at least they aren't always working like the 2-speed on the CX and such.
Anyone know anyone that works at or for a Honda dealership? Maybe they would know...
I'd really like to know. i may as well jsut buy a new combo switch and find out, but I'd like to know what I'm getting into first.
So, anyone know?

Yes, you wil need a relay. I don't know the part number though. I have the wiring diagram you need, but I don't have a scanner here at work. I can try and make a copy and then scan it at home, if you want.
Or (I would strongly suggest) go pick up a Helms, or at the very least a Haynes. The wiring diagram is on page 12-23 in the Haynes book.

That would be great.
I've got Haynes, Helms, and Chiltons manuals.
I just wanted to know if what I needed was simply the combo switch/arm and a relay.
Thanks!

My 92 DX sedan has intermitant wipers, but the intermitant setting doesn't work all the time. Usually when I set it to intermitant, it will wipe once, and stop. I've found this a problem with many older 5th gens, and even though the replacement combo switch isn't expensive, it is a pain in the *** to remove the steeringwheel/airbag just to get to it.
