Who here has painted their wheels?
Ok, I just want to know how it's holding up, and what type of paint you used?
How about surface preparation? Anything involved?
I'm sort of trying to decide between powdercoating or just painting them...
Thanks!

painted mine...aight theres the deal,
1.clean them thoroughly w/ soap whatevers...use degreaser for things that cant come off w/ soap or use gasoline i think.
2. sand them down with 400grit sand paper, then i used 600 grit on top of that. it takes time to sand...this is the most important step.
3. then after sandin them down, clean with a cloth
4. find the color u want to spray them with...i bought like 3-4 bottles of that color and a couple of clear coat bottles
5. slowly one spray by one...apply several coats of the color u want...i did about 5...then 2-3 of clear coats..more is BETTER..
im gonna do mine again in spring when i get my whole team together. i've had my done since june, it hasnt chipped at all yet. jus make sure u use enough coats...the process was like 4-6hrs total, its a very delicate process...but WELLL WORTH THE TIME YO. mine looks great, a lot of ppl ask me about them and stuff.
MATTE black. Flat black is played out. . .
Here's the paint:
I didn't sand. Only prep work was wads of cleaning. I used 2 good coats of sandable primer. Sanded primer lightly (steel wool works grrrreat), sprayed 3 good coats per wheel. That paint is amazing. Didnt sand clearcoat off wheels, and you could take a knife to the black paint and try to get it to come off and it wont. Now that my car got stolen, some **** is driving around with my wheels. . .

Did you all remove the tires for this process or mask the tires during painting?

wrong, I've had many people come up to me and ask if my wheels were powdercoated because they couldn't tell the difference.
