If you haven't seen the Feb 03 issue of SCC, then you'll die laughing when you see the ITR that is going to represent the FWD crowd in the SCC USCC.

Not to give away too much, but the car is turbocharged and built to "showcar" specs. But--here's the kicker. It's riding on 18's with Yokohama Parada Rubber. Suspension is off-the-shelf Comptech Coilovers. However, for competition, it will use, and I quote, "the stock 16-inch rims in order to run race stickies."

Can you say "bend over and take it dry"? I usually don't rant too much, but the R will be going against cars like the Nissan Skyline on 315 Hoosier R compound tires.

Damn that rag pisses me off more and more. I don't know whether to blame the authors for giving the appearance of what a fast car should be, or the mindless readers for not being able to think outside of the pages.

No idea, but the car is not setup to race around a roadcourse or autox course. It should do ok in the drag and bling contests, but it will get raped even in the drag and even moreso on the roadcourse.

All of that money into the motor, but nothing into the tranny (stock LSD and gearing), stock sways, standard off the shelf suspension, etc.

I don't mean to hate on the car because a lot of time was put into it and it has some trick stuff, but it is like bringing a knife to a gun fight. It may be a nice knife, but totally not doing what it was intended for.

BTW--says he dumped $80,000 into the car.

OK, I can see why not since it's not capable of being driven on the street legally, but something LIKE this car....instead.... this is gonna be one humiliation after another.....2yrs in a row...WOOT!

 

I felt so stupid reading that article a street deiven turbocharged honda with its intended purpose for drag racing now thats fine for super street but for rigoureous tests including this thing they call "turning" its a peice of **** that suposedley cost $80,000(yeah ******* right) a freaking show stunna representing us, you know how happy I would of been if I saw ep's mugen mobile ripping it up on the cover. I take this as a direct slap in the face to type R owners.

Bottom line is this cars intended purpose was drag racing and with the competition its facing it will place last in its own catagory.

 

I'm probably going to enter my Hybrid next year...show them badass skylines who is boss. All-Motor ownz them....Too bad you gotta run the same set of tires for the drag and everything...

I want to see the Viper stomp on them all. Do you think they would ever declare a pushrod car a winner in that mag....probably not. I really want to see it win though. The Type R shouldn't be in the contest in that form..... there are so many better Type Rs out there.

yea, thats why primedia hire my friends to be the host for them, thats why i got all access of all area for photo taking...........i got over 350 pics in my HD.

and i watched the tape this year, its better than last horrible one

I dont even think RTR put 80,000 into their stable of R's not including purchase.

SCC is on my **** list since that last issue with the Civic/RSX-S swap. They basicly said, just because they swapped in the RSX-S engine it warranted the right to put Type-R badges on the Civic. Posers.

 

Paul's Dodge Viper wins it by 8 seconds or something on the roadcourse. He's a hellava driver.

 

.....instead of bitching about it, why don't we pony up and have a honda-tech.com car entry next time?

sgT/ CHEETAH/ importreview could collaborate on the motor...

Some crazy guy like karl schultz or jackinthebox could drive...

Sport some honda-tech.com decals, and sponsorship from all the great board sponsors... ATS, R&D, A&J, etc.....

What do you guys think?
