i could be wrong, but i dont think that filler is the best way to go when shaving the moldings. if filler is real thick, it can crack which would **** your day up.

its actually a product called Tiger Tail. its not like regular filler. this has fiberglas mixed in it and turns rock hard after it dries. then you go over it with body filler very lightly. hoping it wont crack.

there is nothing wrong with the hood. i just shaved the sign and filled some of the deep rock chips on it.

i hate to be the one to tell you,ive done alot of body work in my day,it will crack,no doubt, you need to weld in metal ,then fill it,vibrations will cause it to crack all around the indention. The only succesful way of shaving that i have found is to weld it,do small welds so you will not warp the metal.the stuff your using is better than bondo but it will crack,we use something called kitty hair, same stuff.had a freind with a crx that filled it just using the kitty hair,it cracked on him about a year later.

you shoulda just welded your moldings...im not sure if you did on the antenna and emblem holes, but those should be welded too. ive seen these crack and fall apart cause it wasnt done properly.

You hope it wont crack, but from years in the industry I have seen them crack time after time. I suggest that you strip the filler off and do your welds before going too far into the project.

goodluck though.

damn. what about something called fuser glue? have you guys heard anything about this. suppesed to be stronger than weld. If i were to fuser glue the metal to the car will i see the lines after sometime if it absorms moisture? i dont have any experience with a welder so...

also when this stuff cracks, does the paint crack also? (i think i know the answer )

I could not agree more that that with you!!' you absolutly need to weld metal in, It will crack at 99% i'm pretty shure, my friend tried with all metal, this thing is freacking hard, and it didn' t crack, it's the door, when he did an auto-X session, durring hard cornering or semething like that, body pried and the shaving became loose in the door, paint cracked all around !!

so long, good luck, I don't know this tiger tail stuff, but i,m pretty shure it will crack.

Glues will NOT work either. They say it's stronger than welds, but only certain ways and can be pulled apart just as easy in another direction. I'm not making this up, I went to an Autobody Meeting this one day and they were explaining about these metal bonding glues. Just WELD it!!! If you dont have any experience, take it to the shop!!!

ohh well whats done is done. i know this kid here who did the same thing with his hatch but he used dureglass to fill it and the car has been driven for 3 years and still no cracks. It all depends on how you prep the area i gues. We striped down to the metal and made a good surface for it to bond so it wont come loos easily.
Also my firend told me i can borrow his sand blaster for this project, do you guys think it will be better than hand sanding? i think it will.

i agree with other people. filling in the molding with bondo is crap.
a very poor way of doing body work.
i would have cut 2 inch gabs and weld in sheet metal, then grind it down, then bondo. bondo is suppost to be 1/16 thick in the sheet metal.

i know bondo is crap, im not using bondo. im using "Tiger Hair" which is stronger and beter than bondo. Anyways it will look nice once its done. You gotta have a positive outlook in these situations. Thank you for those who support me and for those who dont
