What 5pt/6pt harness do you guys use?
ok im going to be buying 5pt harnesses soon, but im torn as to which to buy. I know that Scroth belts and such are high quality, but do i really need this?
Now, dont get me wrong. Money will not be an issue, and safety is #1. But this car will be used for mostly lapping. This will not be a w2w race car.
So what belts? How are G-Froce belts? Ive read some threads but i didnt get really get what i was looking for (maybe i missed a good thread?).
So what belts? and where did you buy them?
Any advice/comments/concerns are more than welcome.

I use the Sparco/Sabelt 3" ones. Seem to feel pretty good on my body. I paid $180 for the 5 point from www.sportscar-parts.com
Try a search for "harness" in the archived section. Here's a fairly recent thread:

Personally, I use Sparco's. - being blue makes them special

Actually my Simpson 5-pt Latch/Link was $89 but I think they have gone up a little now... haven't checked in a while.

Thanks for the info, I chose the cam lock, but what is teh difference between the floor mount Y pull-up, and the floor mount individual harness bolt in?
189 really isnt that bad of a price, either.

If you are using eye-bolts in the floor, then the "floor mount" is nice because they have clips that snap right to the eye-bolts... works well for multiple cars. The "bolt-in" just has a big washer on the end of the straps.. like the sub-belt... for bolting directly to the floor.
I bought the "Floor-mount"... used eye-bolts for the Lap belts... bolted the sub-strap directly to the floor(or if the end isn't sewn in, you could buy another clip and use it with an eye-bolt also) ... and then took the washer off the end of the shoulder harness and wrapped it around the cage instead of bolting to the floor(why I recommend the longer belts..62"). Let me know if you have any more questions. I know how confusing the belt-buying process can be.
I got the Deist harness from Stable Energies. I bought my harness bar from them, and figured I'd get the harness at the same time. It is more expensive than the sabelt/g-force harnesses at $270, but the shoulder pads are stiched in, which is nice to have so they don't slide around on you. They include the mounting hardware, and it doesn't require you to drill any holes. I replaced the standard bolts on both the female seatbelt end and the bottom of the factory seatbelt mounting point with eye-bolts, which the harness then clips to. for the sub belts, i attached pieces to the front seat mounting points that the belts loop through.
The "Y" vs the "individual" is talking about the shoulder straps. The "Y" has both straps coming together to one strap behind the seat... therefor you would only have one attachment point to the car/cage. The individual is what most people use, and has seperate straps that pass over your shoulders and each one goes to a mounting point on the cage/car.

Thank you for clearing that up, i appreciate it. Is there really any benefit to bolting directly to the floor or using eye bolts(aside from if you have to remove the harness for use in another vehicle)?
Yes these will be used with a roll bar. Thanks again!

I have had good luck and like my Simpson Cam lock. The simpson also appears to have thicker webbing than some that I have seen. I believe Pegasus Racing stocks these.
