looking for average cost on swapping a b16a1 into a 91 std...help?
I want to drop a b16a1 into my 91 STD, and my local friends have quoted some pretty outrageous prices on doing this....just looking for info from people who have done this - how much it cost them for all necessary parts (no labor, I've got that handled) and also what parts I'm going to need to get this done right. Also interested in knowing what it would cost to get that 5th gear in there
in addition to everything else. Thanks for your help.

the minimum you will need is motor, tranny, ecu, mount kit, shift linkage, axles, hubs - you will need to convert from DPFI to MPFI which requires an injector resistor box - to do it right, replace clutch, timing belt, pan gasket and crankshaft seals - will need exhaust work - depending on what you have to pay for parts, it will probably be close to $2500 - $3000 without labor.

You have a 91 which is newer then an 88.

On the 91 Standard you do have to convert to MPFI to run a b16a.
Check my sig for pics of my old std

BTW Count Blah, did you keep it a 4-spd, and what were you running in the 1/4 (mods?)? Just want to know what I can expect at first, though I'll be adding mods later. **** was lookin' pretty sick there, too bad it's retired

You do not need to do this. I have an 88 crx hf and I droped a b16A1 into it and did not do this and everything runs fine.

You can't keep it a 4-speed. The 4-speed tranny is a D-series, B16 is a B-series and only accepts B trannies, and there are no 4-spd B trannies that I know of or at least that anyone would use.

No you cant keep it a 4spd - d series transmissions to not bolt up to b series blocks. I never got a 1/4 mi time (not into drag) but i estimate high 14 to low 15 sec times per the usual.

Thanks. Dammit, I hate being new to imports. This is my first import after owning/working solely on domestics. I'm loath to post anything on this site because of all the ****** out there who are quick to flame noobs like me. At least you were nice about it

You will have to do a little wiring for mpfi but I got my whole setup from Hmotorsonline for $1950, shipped to my house. Included motor, tranny, ecu, axles, hasport linkage, hasport mounts, complete Jdm harness with the resistor box you will need, and 90-93 integra front brakes with the hubs you will need. Props to steve.
