Who uses Lexan?
I am just wondering. Just thinking about it an all. Is it legal to use as a windshield? Like in H1?
I looked through the rules and didn't see anything mentioning glass. I may not have paid that good of attention though.

Warning - pet peeve follows:
Ick. Shouldn't be allowed in any race car with a steel unibody. Ick, ick, ick. In a plastic-bodied GT car, OK but... Ick. They are allowed in WC Touring and some of the cars out there (notably Taz's Civic) go down the straight with the thing dented in and distorted, looking all cheap and nasty. If the minimum weights were just raised 50# across the board, the whole exercise would be pointless.

a smart racer would keep the lexan for safety, and put that fifty pounds in the form of lead in the car. Somewhere advantageous of course.
I should have been more specific...
Increase the minimum weight and a large part of the rationale for plastic windows goes away. Impact safety is enhanced, no question but I am not sure about economy. Anyone know what a preformed, compound-curve Lexan windshield for my Civic costs, and where I can get one? Neither safety nor economy arguments stand up for side windows.
Still ick. Still peeved.

two words of advice......cardboard templates = cheap
and cut slowly (easy to melt lexan and screw up big time)
P.S> yes we used aluminum bracing from the cage to support the windshild. not very practical in my opinion for a street car, but you get the point.
Flex-A-Lite (stock replacement), Flex-A-Lite (full race), HCI info on FAL window for CRX, and some pricing info from "Options auto salon"
It's cheaper than replacing the stock glass from what I've seen, especially if you have a CRX (rear stock hatch glass is insane for a second gen CRX - ~$600 from various internet sources)!
Stock lexan sources:
Here's a cool site for Lexan sheet stock...
and another cool site...
and a neat one with a peel off surface laminate...tear offs!
yall can search for more lexan sites by yourself...

If you want Lexan windows that fit very well and don't have an inflated pricetag like FAL windows, try checking with M&B Products.
High quality lexan windows and top notch customer service.

Because I think that this link is really important I've taken it out of my previous post above and put it a post by itself:
An excellent article on lexan windshield information and safety from Darkhorseracing.net...a must read!
