i am putting an aftermarket 75mm throttlebody on my car. does anyone know anything about the TPS and IAC voltages being different... could i use my honda TPS on the mustang throttlebody? or could this not be a problem since im running a speed-pro?. can the speed-pro compensate for the diff tps and iac..im only askin cause i havent gotten a chance to use the speed-pro YET(after having it for over a year now) and have never used a mustang throttle body on a honda... nor do i have experience with mustang electrical systems or mustangs in general

any insight would be a help.


this is going on a fully built b18c(extrude honed jg edlebrock intake mani) if i cant get the stang throttlebody to fit,i plan on cutting off the "honda" flange that is on there and making my own flange, than welding it onto the mani...


i just orderd the tb from jegs today. i havent gotten it yet. so id like to know what im about to get myself into.

you'd use a ford tps with the speedpro...

i dont know about the holly tb's but wilsons work really well as do accufabs

oh yeah, and a flange was also welded on for the throttle body to a str intake manifold... and fabbed up custom throttle cable bracket, worked well.

That TB in my opinion is way too big for any honda application. Even a built turbo engine would have problems keeping up with that kinda flow. You'd also have a lousy idle with that set-up. The injectors would have to have higher flow ratings as well.

I'd like to hear how you get set-up and how well it runs though.

That's not true! I use a BBK 75MM TB and my car idles like stock

 

I didn't know they made them that big. Wow, I guess I learned something today. Where do I find one of these 75mm babies.

 

Should work well. I'm using a Haltech and I can calibrate it to almost any TPS. I'm using a t/b from an Infinity Q45. It's 90mm at the opening and 85mm at the plate. Idles like stock and revs quick when you crack the throttle.

 

Hmm looks like I have to visit an Infiniti dealer. Can you mount a GM 3bar on the baby?

this is going on my race car... its a 92 civic si, has a deckplated b18c from GE, revhard equal length tubular ex. mani. turbonetics ceramic BB t66. i dont think ill have a problem with "not enough flow". i plan on boosting about 28 psi ...id post pics of it but i dont have any recent ones..the last pics i have are from august. it was at the atco event on the 25th or so...wasnt running yet just took it there to show it off its one of the nicest race cars.id say its equal to the quality of the Echo civic. and thats one clean car!

the reason im using the 75mm tb is because all 3 ft of my intercooler piping is 3 inch, so i would think using a tb that is about 3 inch would be a smart choice. i plan on puting out some real nice hp#'s with my car...im only running 1200 cc injectors and race gas though...i might switch to alcohol and get a bigger turbo in the future..depends if i can find some money somehow...either that or pick up a sponser sometime next season when my beast of a civic hits the track. i cant wait to drive this thing...ill have so much hp, i wont know what to do with it all


ive been building it for over a year and a half now(it got stolen from englishtown on may5th 2001) so im going all out this time around....

Forget the dealer. I got mine from http://www.autogator.com/ for $90. You need one from a model WITHOUT traction control, otherwise, you won't be able to mount a cable to it. And yes a 3 bar will work, i'm using it, you cant mount it to the t/b, but i run a short vacuum line to it.

 

Thanks for the info. I had no idea that they would adapt with-out extreme modification.

 

Well, I wouldnt call it simple modification. Took me about a day to redrill holes, source a gasket, position, gasket match, etc..

 

Well I'll be making my own manifold so I don't really need to worry about that. I'll just need to re-mold it. I love this hobby I always det to play with the cool chemicals and tools.
