Replacing Fuel Pump
I'm gonna be replacing the fuel pump on a 91 crx dx. I know the tank has to be dropped to access the fuel pump. It looks pretty straight forward from the diagams I've looked at, but there are a few things I need cleared up.
1. Do I need anything else besides the fuel pump and fuel strainer/filter? any gaskets?
2. I'm looking at pumps available at autozone and advanceautoparts, can you recommend any particular brand from experience?
3. Have any of you worked on the pump without draining the tank, or is it a bad idea?
4. Are there any sites with a how-to? I've looked but no success.
Thanks

from the top of the rear cargo area is just the fuel level sender, you definitely have to drop the tank. just unbolt the straps that hold the tank up and let it hinge down, the fuel pump is on the driver's rear side. i would go with at least an SI pump, if not something a tad bigger such as a holley or jackson racing pump. i believe the stock out put is somewhere around 95 liters per hour (correct me if i am wrong!) and most of the time i see people upgrading to 155's, or 195's.

Right. The pump was shot but i wasnt 100% sure... the main relay wiring was messed up too. So I didnt want to order an upgraded pump and have it end up not fixing the problem. Plus it's my friend's car... it's been sitting outside for over a year and he let me mess with it to try get it working. After fixing the head gasket, timing belt (reason it was sitting doing nothing), water pump, main relay wire harness, and fuel pump, I have it up and running. It will be mine soon though
. It's amazing how many things break when it's just sitting there baking in the sun.
