Default Fujitsubo RM-01A Review

Thanks to Leo at JDM Spec Performance for a great deal and great service on a great system. After receiving a shorter cat (thanks Mike) to accomodate the longer JDM b-pipe, I installed the RM-01A on Friday night. Fitment was exceptional without any problems whatsoever. I am still amazed by the overall high quality of the Fujitsubo - the design, welds, fitment, and appearance is second to none in my opinion.

Once installed I was excited to hear how it sounded. When it fires up the tone is extremely deep and glorious. On idle, you can barely hear the exhaust because it is quiet and so deep. Inside the car while driving the exhaust is quiter at times than my old system (Comptech) and at other times louder. As you climb through the gears at WOT the exhaust makes an incredible sound that is deep and aggressive and not at all tinny or whiney. And while the exhaust makes a nice deep explosion at VTEC, it is never obscenely loud or obnoxious.

Overall, this system gets
I have never seen or heard a better designed exhaust for the R. Period.

Good review. Now that the audible characteristics are out of the way, how about sharing any performance gains or lack there of when compared to your old exhaust?

Did you happen to take pics of the exhaust inlets and outlets? I was curious to see if there were any places where it necks down smaller than the advertised 60.5mm size?

I did not take pics of the inlets or outs - but there are no bottlenecks whatsoever in the system. Very well designed. Performance wise it did feel like I had a bit more ooomph. The stock p-bipe is restrictive and opening that up has certainly helped.

I hope to dyno soon.

Like I just said, there are no bottlenecks or restrictions..
Yes, it feels like I am pulling harder with more power available to me throughout the power band. But without a dyno that is just what I 'feel'. I know my car so I know there is improvement - but I can't tell you how much...

Excellent, Thanks a lot Flux...

Looks like this is the way I'm goin... Far and Wide I've searched and this one seems to the the best that fits exactly what I want and need.

Thanks again,,, And BTW how much different does the car sound in person as compared to what it sounds like on Fujitsubo's Website?

I am looking forward to a nice Dyno.

Looks like a nice piece. What kind of warranty you have on it, Flux?

Flux can confirm but,

Nope,

not sure exactly what the older version looked like but, I measured the New Spoon N-1 version recently with the T-1R B-pipe and the bottleneck is there.

Unfortunately...

Then it was the old one. The new (not so new anymore, about a year old almost now) N1 design has 63mm piping. There is NO bottleneck in the new ones.

a bottle neck is~~ where the pipe and flange connects there part is not straight out.

i see alot of people getting Type one B pipe along with Spoon N1.
