Default Tustin Acura service dissatisfaction

Just like to share the experience my R had at Tustin Acura here in SoCal.

On Friday, my tranny was dropped under warranty, and I had them install a Comptech flywheel while it was out. Great, I thought. At the end of the day I drive my car home. On the way home I hear something begin to make a very loud rattle in the engine bay and drop out onto the ground. I pop my hood to check things out and what do I find but oil splattered everywhere. Turns out the tech forgot to replace my oil dipstick. I called the service guy with my cell phone and he was like "oh yeah he said it's there sitting on the cowl". I'm like oh okay he didn't sound very disturbed or apologetic by this and treated it as normal I didn't realize today was self service dipstick day. I could have just kept driving until my oil was gone.

Also I look at my Comptech Icebox. Looks like the tech reattached the bolts with an air wrench because they were smashed into the bracket and could not be removed anymore. Also now the box is able to rock back and forth making a rattle on the bracket. I asked the dealer this and he's just "well the bolts are tight, something is wrong with your chassis bracket". I asked if they could fix whatever it was they broke but he said he would have to charge me for it because there is no way to tell it wasn't already like that. Big to that crap.

But the question still remains, what fell out of my engine bay? I've started to hear strange rattles, more than what I would expect from my messed up Icebox bracket so I can only guess something in the motor isn't bolted down properly anymore. I'm afraid to drive my car thinking something could slip loose and cause a dangerous situation. I asked to drop the car off so they can have someone else recheck the work since the person who worked on my car obviously wasn't qualified to do things properly. I also asked for a loaner because I will no be out a car until this is done. They said they couldn't do that and I would have to wait until Tuesday for my service advisor to be in again until they could recheck it.

So now I'm stuck bumming rides to work and such until Tuesday (I work everyday until Wednesday) and have to put up with their crap again when I take the car back in. The reason I wanted this done at the dealer was because it was the only place I figured would have everything done perfectly. But no, I left with a fucked up car because the tech at Tustin Acura working on my car was a big dumbshit. My car definitely won't see them again.

Don't know the name of the tech, will have to check when I take it back to get all this straightened out.

I'm sure I can still expect the call from the dumb receptionist telling me to check "Excellent" on their survey crap soon.

thats sucks, i took my itr in there for a sincro problem and they got it fixed. everything went ok except they tried to rip me off but then covered all of it anyway. im kinda skeptical about there service too but whats a guy to do, all dealers are scum.

oh yeah, did they instal the flywheel in for free? i mean you bought the flywheel from them then install without labor charge?

Sorry to hear about the service you got, I ocassionally go there also, one thing I usually do before leaving the dealer is doing a all around visual check of the car and popping of the hood to make sure everything looks ok.
Maybe what you heard was a tool or something left in the engine bay?

I've never had a problem there, until this last time. I'm kinda aggrvated that I got a 30k tune up, and they didn't adjust the valves or change the brake fluid like I asked. And my clutch is still acting up.... I'm pretty aggravated.

Chris, who may try out some other dealerships in the area.

My advice to you is to get to know the service manager or at least the assistant service manager. I got to know mine and now he's the only person I deal with when I go into the dealer. This cuts out any middle men and makes my experience at the dealer quick, to the point, and generally more pleasant.

Must be nice, I know what you mean. Most places I been to I will get along with someone for awhile and later on down the road come find out they quit or got fired, high turnovers in sales
I know when these yearly evals come out there will be some negative marks regarding service

Very good advice. I have done the same also. My dealer knows I autocross a lot and do track days and they don't make any stink about a warranty items. My car is basically stock (only different brake pads and comptech filter) so that may help also.

I'm hoping all that fell out was a tool, and the extra rattling is caused by them breaking my airbox bracket on the chassis. Hopefully I can get them to fix that when it goes in to be checked up on.

Metro Acura in montclair is da Shiznit.Any problems i have i can go there and they're always happy to help me out. .

The guys there will even tell me what to do instead of having to bring it in.So they don't have to charge me an arm and a leg to find a simple problem.

If you guys have any problems of any other dealers and you're nearby let me know and i'll go with you to the dealer and introduce you to them,so you can get the same treatment that i get.

Man, I'm kinda glad my car never had a problem when it was under warranty.. I'm not sure I would have brought it in even if it did, but still.

That's the truth!

When I had my R and when I took it to South Bay Acura(formerly Peyton Cramer Acura) for servicing I always had two or three service guys that knew me by face and name. They were cool as **** and would hook me up on whatever I needed. I never had a problem with the servicing.

try the acura in costa mesa off harbor blvd.
i always get my parts from there and no i have never gotten my car serviced there,
but my dad got our acura SUV serviced there and they were honest as hell.
told him what was wrong, told him how to fix it, and then asked if he wanted it fixed.
the raped him in labor charges but every dealer does..but they got the job done
right. i would only go to tustin acura to test drive cars =P but now i have a gsr
so egh no need.
ha..it's stories like these that had me just pay buddies less to do the job right.
i have never taken my car in for maintenance nor repair since i obtained it earlier this year.

Thats the dealer I've been going to the past 3 years. I cannot say enough good things about Metro Acura. They are very straight and to the point. One of their head techs is very knowledgeable about cars, especially the integras. They always tell me everything up front and hide absolutely nothing.

Lets put it this way. Their tech came out to me and we talked for a bit. He said that if I chose to modify the car I shouldnt worry about it. He said "if something happens to the car and the problem is not related to the modifications, then we wont think twice about fixing it." They dont play any funny games with you, just straight business.

To anyone that doubts their Acura dealer, switch to Metro Acura, you'll be glad you did.

from all the dealer that i have experience with, they offer warrenty for their work, but on the other hand, they will try their best to void that.
