Can i tighten my parking brake?
My parking brake sucks. if i am on an angle more than like 15 degrees i will roll back. Is it bad or can i tighten it? When i put it on, I have to pull the brake lever all the way up. I noticed on my my sisters 92 civic hatch, you only have to pull the lever up 1/4 of the way.
so whats the deal?

Do you have rear drums? If you do, then take off the drums and adjust the brakes...
if you look right behind the e-brake lever, youll see a little plate that you can pull off, under here is where you adjust the parking brake from, the way to do it is to lift the back of the car off the ground, pull the e-brake up one notch, then spin then get someone to spin one of the wheels for ya while you tighten the adjusting nut, keep adjusting it until the brakes just slightly rub on on the wheel. take the brake off, make sure the wheel still sping freely now. and if it does, you're done and go give it a try

What if his brakes are just low?
just a thought,
cr-x si - what are your regular pedal brakes like??
yah i gotta do this...mine clicks up i think i counted like 11 times lol that cant be too good... i heard it has to be under 6 to pass inspection
Seeing as you have an 89 Si, that means you have rear drums. You need to adjust the shoes, not just the e-brake cable. I'm sure if your e-brake is this loose, your brake pedal must be incredibly mushy. Adjusting the e-brake cable should only be done if the rear brakes are adjusted properly and the e-brake still does not engage until it is pulled very far up (past 10-12 clicks).(meaning there would be slack in the cable....adjusting the cable without adjusting the shoes only puts unnecessary tension on the cable).
I would also say adjust the brakes. if you think.. the e brake cable really doesn't wear and therefore doesn't need adjusting.. well shouldn't need adjusting
my e-brake sucked then i adjusted the rear brakes.. and now it's great

ya i adjusted the e-brake. and i only have to pull it up like 6 inches and it works great. My regular breaks work fine too. That screw behind the e-brake was just real loose.
