same old autox question asked a different way: dc2 better off with which wheel/ tire combo?
Assume this is for a dc2R (98 spec)/ 5x114.3 with the brake upgrades in my avatar...
Please don't focus on classification too much: SM is where I'm at right now... Time Only if it please the public - we're interested in best grip/ handling in order to turn the best times...
15x6 w/ 195's? wheel weighs 15lbs
15x6 w/ 205's? wheel weighs 15lbs
15x6.5 w/ 205's? wheel weighs 12lbs
15x7 w/ 205's? wheel weighs 13lbs
15x7.5 w/ 205's? wheel weighs 13lbs
15x8 w/ 205's? wheel weighs 13lbs
16x8 w/ 205's? wheel weighs 13lbs
15x8 w/ 215 or 225's? wheel weighs 13lbs
16x8 w/ 215 or 225's? wheel weighs 13lbs

What class are you going to be running in? Also, by you name I assume this is for an ITR, right? I would have different answers for a DC2 and DC2R.
.....I fixed my post. Yes it's for an itr, and I don't care about class necessarily.
I'm currently considering b00st + gutting the car and running a carbon hatch w/ lexan rear window.
I dunno where that would bump me...

It's a tough call. If you're not changing your gearing I would stick with the 15s and I would stick 15x8 in the front with 225s. Now depending on how you suspension is set up woud determine what I would run in the rear (If you could get them to fit or do some custom fender flares). If you have all the oversteer you need then I would match the rears with the fronts. However if you could use more oversteer then I would go with something like 15x7-7.5 with 205s (also that would be the easiest to fit under the fender without lots of negative camber).
Your plans for the carbon hatch with lexan windows are going to kick you way out of SM into custom built car territory and the benefit will be minimal.

.....thanks for the suggestions.
The mods I'm doing aren't necessarily to be competitive at autox. I'd be happy running T/O for fun... but I do want to run the fastest times I possibly can, and traction is a HUGE issue.
Let me add that I'd like to be able to swap wheel/ tire from front to rear in the usual rotation pattern... with that said, the combo must fit under a mildly dropped dc2R without rubbing...
Custom gearing, no. 4.9 final drive, yes.
That's why traction is difficult, even allmotor at present... But I can compensate for that with sidewall height...

I'd do 15 or 16 x 8 with as wide of a hoosier as possible. Probably a 225 on the 15 and whatever the equivalent is on the 16. Although, you are limited by the clearance on the DC2 chassis. You are not going to get anymore than a 225 on the car.
And if it is for fun and a local, run in SM and be done with it. No one should care that you have lexan on the car locally. We have STS cars with CF hoods in my region, and no one really cares (maybe because the drivers aren't winning, but oh well).

I believe you can get 15x7.5 with 225 to fit (the search function can confirm/deny this) but traction not only comes from how much rubber you have on the ground but your suspention as well but I don't feel like opening that can of worms.
