installed my S2000 antenna today on my gsr
i used the installation directions off of bseries.net and they were great. only thing i didn't follow was that part about the PVC pipe. i just pulled off the original piece from the antenna motor that i pulled out and used it again to mount the antenna with. reception was a little strange...some stations came in really well and some were a little fuzzy...so just in case, i installed an internal antenna too and now reception is GREAT across all the stations. i dig the way it looks on my green teg too.
i am happy because i just finished it....so i had to share

i'd like to know about the internal antenna also. where did you buy it? how was it installed? i've got an s2000 antenna also and i could use better reception.

I used a internal signal amplifier for my s2000 antenna and it works well, if not better than the stock reception. RadioShack will have the parts.
pix ownz so plz post them...my friend had his s2000 antenna on his celica gts...when i asked him how he put it in..he said the shop did it and he cant remember (he got it installed with everything else kit, dropped etc)
yeah i thought about the in-line amplifier...but i was impatient and i was working on it at night...didn't want to wait until today to go buy one. so what i did was to make damn SURE there was a really good connection between the antenna wire and the central screw. for the "internal antenna" mine is a little ghetto, but it was free and it works PERFECTLY. what i did was to install some TV rabbit ears on the outside of the paneling, (i ziptied them to the protective frame of the cd changer) and now the line from the rabbit ears runs through the vent right behind the cd changer up to the antenna. the carpet covers most of the rabbit ears and you can only see the tips of each of the ears. i will take pics and post them as soon as i get home from campus today. i don't know why anyone would have used that PVC idea though, the metal bracket that you can rip off of the original antenna motor housing worked freggin perfectly....but i'm pretty happy now
My reception is perfectly fine with just the stock antenna hooked up. Just have to be sure to shield all the metal parts from interference with electrical tape or shrink tubing.

yeah if you use the piece from the stock antenna, it could possibly cause more interference since it's metal. I recently rebuilt my antenna mount, and opted to not use a piece of PVC glued to a fender washer. This time I just used a PVC end-cap and drilled a hole in the bottom of it. That's less metal, and I don't have to worry about it coming apart from the washer (as it did once before).
guys just search for pics...there have been mulitple threads about the s2k antenna conversion.
reception will not be anywhere near as good with the s2k antenna. mine is crappy.

ok, new story: i drove to school today and as soon as i got on the highway my reception got really crappy...even with the stupid rabbit ears. i talked to a bunch of people at places like Frys electronics and Radioshack and they said the fm signal amplifiers don't work well. one guy also told me that since i spliced into the stock antenna wire to crimp on a connector to bolt it down to the central screw that the splicing actually degrades the signal quite a bit.
do any of you guys know if that's true? the way i see it is that i have 2 options right now:
1. get a new antenna wire and run it through my car from the deck and run it up to the antenna...but even then i would have to do like the instructions say and "cut off the female end" of another shorter antenna wire to plug into the car wire on one side and to bolt on to the antenna on the other side. isn't that going to be just the same as splicing before the original connector?
2. get a bigger antenna than those stupid rabbit ears that i have in the hatch now and stick it somewhere in there to try to pull in a stronger signal.
so what do you guys think i should do? i'd really like to get it working the way it's supposed to by tonight...if i can. should i try wrapping the screw and mounting hardware and all that in electrical tape? will that really do that much?...cause i'm not really getting any distortion, i'm just losing the signal altogether.

oh and IntEGNYC, you say you got an internal signal amplifier at radio shack? i went to radio shack today and asked them about some kind of fm signal amplifier and they said they used to sell something like that, but they haven't carried them for a while now. i'd be really appreciative if you could tell me a little more about what you got from them...maybe i asked for the wrong thing or something?? i dunno.
**about the pics...i'll take some as soon as i get the reception fixed**

oh, there was one other thing i was thinking about too. sorry about all the posts, but i'm very focused on just this one thing right now. do any of you know anything about any kind of glass-mounted antennas like corvettes have? something that would be really small that i could mount on the back quarter glass and it wouldn't really be noticable.
and does the S2000 have an in line signal amplifier to make this little *** antenna work better? if so, maybe i could just get that from Honda.

when u went to honda to order the antenna what all did u have to order? cause i went to honda earlier this morning to order it and the lady at the corner printed out the diagram showing what parts it takes and what goes where and there was a blueprint of the antenna and some parts and the motor to the antenna, she said i probably just needed the antenna .. what did u get?
the S2000 antenna doesn't have a motor...so i'm going to assume you talked to the lady about the integra antenna. all i purchased from honda was the S2000 antenna mast.
anyone have any advise at all?

What I did was use an antenna cable extension which would plug into my factory antenna cable. On the other end of that extension, I cut off the end and crimped on a ring terminal to the single center copper wire that runs inside that platic tube. I actually ended up soldering the ring terminal on, then pushing the terminal back into the plastic tube, then wrapping it in electrical tape. You don't want any of that copper mesh (between the plastic tube and outer sheath) touching the ring terminal.
Andrea: you just want the antenna mast, about $20 or so.
The S2000 uses a signal amplifier, it's contained inside a box just on the underside of the quarter panel where you see the antenna. From Honda Automotive Parts it's like $90 for the parts that the antenna mast attaches to. I heard about one guy using all that in his Integra, but I think it would require modification of the trim panel inside the hatch.

patrick, here its $25 for the mast. not to bad.
I did it the mickey mouse way a few months ago. I first tried using the PVC pipe thing and that lasted about 2 minutes, and so I decided to mickey mouse the stock antenna and that was on my car for a few months. And I didn't have ANY signal with that. So one day, I had an extra 100 (i won it at a casino) and went to Honda and purchased the whole antenna thing. The thing that the antenna mast screws on to. Now, I have better reception than I did compared to the stock integra one. And there was absolutely NO mickey-mouse involved. It was literally plug-n-play. Of course it cost me a hundred dollars for this stupid thing.
