How to stop rattling license plate
The more bass the song has the more my license plate rattles, what can I do to stop it? Thanks in advance......I already searched with no luck
I recently pounded a heart stopping 153.3(unofficial) db at a local competition, and I'll tell you what, it's a constant battle to stop the rattling from everywhere. The only way I finally stopped my plate from rattling was put 1/2" foam(like to seal a garage door or regular door) all over on teh back of the plate, and then drilled the bottom two holes for the plate into the trunk. Ran some bolts through it with nyloc nuts and no more rattles at least from my plate. I've taken off my lights and put foam behind them, same with other choice parts in my trunk, along with dynamatted pretty much the entire trunk and it still rattles lol.
not a whole lot of room left :D

It's pretty much a one note wonder, I'm getting ready to rip it out and put my old setup back in, I miss my trunk, and I miss actually enjoying more than my car rattling to pieces. My old boxes while not being SPL monsters were tuned pretty good, and despite the small amount of canellation I got from firing them towards eachother they sounded much better. This big box is tuned to about 35hz and does from 30-45hz ok, anything over that and it just dies..
this was my old setup(all built by me)

Yup, Dynamat the back of the plate. Worked well on my Civic back in the day. Available at Circuit City in a "license plate kit" for about $10.
hey V6 nice setup you got there
.. what kind of car is that in?
anyway you can buy the dynomat license plate kit.. its a piece of dynomat cut out to the size of the license plate... or you can just buy a roll if you plan on doing the rest of your car and cut it out..
some ghetto'er/cheaper ways are to put cardboard or foam behind the license plate/cut out to the size of the plate.. and also DON'T use a license plate frame cuz that will rattle alot... you can use plumbing/rubber washers on the license plate and screws then screw it down hard against the license plate and on the bottom where you slip the plate on.. you can put some foam (packing/shipping foam) so the plate doesn't rattle on those 2 prongs (not sure what their technically called)...

dynamat on the back of the will help stop the resonation, but won't stop it from the initial rattlle. If you just have a little rattle it might cure it, but if you have a big rattle you'll need more than mat, this is my deck lid
the back of the plate has 2 layers of dynamat extreme as well.

it's all in this 01 v6 accord ex
