I want to upgrade my suspension and my tuner wants an all out autoX car. What are the pro and cons on those and other brands, which one wuold you drive, which one would you buy again.
I run race valved JIC's on my Honda Challenge car. All of these systems are going to be similar. Make sure you spec your own spring rates unless you don't mind mild understeer.

What spring rates do you run and how neutral is your steering. What model JIC's do you run and are JIC's the same as Zeal?
It's pretty damn loose. Neutral on throttle though. The model is a modified FLT-A2. Spring rates are high. This is a race car we're talking about. I'm running about what a World Challenge, or any fast Honda would run. Lots of spring up front, and more in back, with a big rear bar.

Spoon
Pretty much the best for your DC2. Showa were used in N1 , Gr.A race series as well as stock dampers. Spoon's are well developed for street, Auto-x and track usuage. Extremely durable. One of my favorite
.
Buddyclub Racing Spec - has a bigger tunability ranges over ZEAL cuz of piston size. It can be softer and stiffer over ZEAL B6/S6. Bad thing is they are quite heavier cuz of the chromoly steel and aluminum components. Pillowball upper mounts comes as standard so you will benefit more turn in response.
Buddyclub P.1 dampers- Full aluminum construction. Super lightweight.HUGE tunability ranges from soft to stiff. Top notch quality and performance but bling* bling*
ZEAL- B6/S6 same internals . Very streetable , nice ride and not bumpy at all. Since they don't come with pillowball uppermounts , turn in is not as sharp.
B2s , best bang for the buck.
Mugen-low down no comments .N1 dampers are AWESOME
you don't need to ask but race damper is made for racing , just make sure you note that.
Here my little rating for them.
1) Buddyclub P.1 dampers (custom spec)
2) Mugen N1 (race use only)
3) Spoon N1 (street to track)
4) Buddyclub Racing Spec (street to track)
5) ZEAL B6/S6 (high quality street damper)
6) ZEAL B2 (best bang for street)

No objections to SRR but the thing is rarely ppl run them. For that kind of price , I would rather go for something with a brand name you trust.
SRR are good stuff, I used it on my TYPE R too. I loved it more than TEIN.
At first I used TEIN NA with H&R sport spring, after half year a change to HA with 12K front and 8K for the rear. On the track still not good enough for me. Also TEIN coilover is not big valve and short body. Then I choose SRR, although SRR cost pretty much, I still choose it. Because it is aluminium body, short body big valve and can use high spring rate( I used 20K and 18K) I used it on the track is much more better than TEIN. Although that price I can get TEIN RA, but TEIN RA can only afford to 16K, also you have to use the travel of the shock to adjust the height. I like SRR ride and on the track too.

The guy wants 800 for them 700lbs front 400lbs rear.

wow, with that set up your handling will hardly be neutral...oversteer central

wouldn't it be more oversteer if it was stiffer in the back??? and for drag it would be stiffer in the back too.......
I am so happy with my Buddy Club Race Spec Dampeners. The exact tunability that I am looking for for Auto X's and Track Events. I dont mind the tad extra weight that comes with these coilovers.
JIC ? I used to have a lot of friends selling and ran them in HK. I've seen them in person and it doesn't look impressive but most of the review for ppl who bought them in HK said thay are crap. Pillowball uppermounts were making sound and the seal doesn't last and they fail very easily right from the very beginning. This info were from few years ago but anyhow I assume JIC must improve their products in the 2002.
Hey Aj,
Where would TEIN Type FLEX fit on your list if it was on there? Are they comparable to the Zeal B6?

I will rate it in under Spoon.
