if your burning oil and you have good compression numbers check to see if your crank mains are strait mine were found to be oval shaped and I was having oil consumption.
I took it to AEBS and they line bored my mains and problem solved but I beat the hell out or my R so check it out

I'd search. Personally, if you are burning oil, that's a sign that something is not right. My personal experience is that mobil1 5w30 burns easily and 10w30 is a much better weight. If you are burning 10w30... I'd say that is not good.
Edit: You gotta love when 10 or so posts are deleted and you look like an ***, flaming people's posts who don't exist.

I burn close to 3 quarts between oil changes (every 3,000mi). Car still runs strong but I know something is definitely up (oil rings are probably gone).
burning oil may not be the worst for a motor, but it sure shouldnt be happening like people swear by in this forum... "yeah i burn a quart every 2 miles!"...

I have the same problem. I smell burning oil and heat smoke I have oil
leaking from the head somewhere. I just recently replace oil pan.
It almost 3k miles on the oil.
I check dipstick, there no oil on the dipstick!
I added in 4 quarts of mobil 10w30. The engine was idling smoother and better. My engine is at 83,000 mileages. I see there oil spreading all over the long block. It look messy. There seem like leaks around oil return line. I am going to have it
check tomorrow. I think I need new head gasket, new rings, new pistons rings? I am worried so I have it check tomorrow. Anyone know what cause this? Thanks for reading my post.

I use that too, and I burn... I wonder if it depends on how hard you drive your car... I would think it does.

My car burned about 1.5 quarts between oil changes, but that was because I drove 350 miles every weekend, (most of them at 4000 rpm commuting)

My R burns oil too. Switching to 10w-30 from 5w-30 won't change much if any at all, seeing as how when it heats up(the point at which you burn oil) it is still 30 weight. Acura told me a high reving car such as the Type R is supposed to burn oil. It depends on the driver and the oil used. If you use synthetic and drive it to redline all day then yes you are going to burn some oil.
