I made an in-car camera mount tonight
I've always wanted to show people what it is like inside the car during an autoX plus maybe figure out what I'm doing wrong while driving. Anybody else have one?
I need to get a pillow ball mount for the camera to sit on. The cheapest one I've found in town is thirty bucks? I need to look online for something cheaper. Here's the link I used to make it.

So where do you mount the camera and you think we could mount that to the GSR for one run. BADASS. I'm so pumped for Sunday I'm going to push my GSR to the limits.
Hopefully the snow want get in our way.

awesome we'll do it. BTW I drove the GSR home tonight at 10:30 from work in that blizzard and I was kinda suprised on how well the dunlops did. But the roads were wet not snow packed.

Yeah I used to have one mounted on the driver side of the dash. I'm getting an Autopower race roll bar though, and that's how most people mount them. That is a really good idea though.
That's cool, Aaron.
I want to mount a camera in my front air dam... The current plan is to take a QuickCam (I have one already), enclose it in a custom clear plastic box, attach it in the air dam at the center, and connect it to my laptop which will somehow be secured somewhere in the car (I need to find a SCCA legal solution for this). I think I can only get 10-15 fps out of that camera and it's B&W, but if the rest of the idea works out, I'll get a faster color camera since they're so cheap nowadays. I finally have a garage now, so I'll have a convenient place and plenty of opportunity to experiment with crazy ideas such as this. I hope to have something set up by the next autocross...

After testing the camera mount out last weekend at an autocross, I was impressed with the mount. I thought it was going to be too stiff and not have any suspension for the camera. I thought that the picture was going to be very jumpy and not good but it was the other way around. I highly recommend this mount to anybody that wants some good race footage!
