My New Suspension Setup Arrives (pics)
Received my new TODA Racing FIGHTEX FS coilovers today from AKH Trading.
These are very high quality pieces and I'm looking forward to getting them on my car. I know not many people ahve these coilovers at all, so I will be sure to post extensive reviews. Let's please not turn this into a discussion about "Why didn't you get Zeal/Buddy club?" or "You paid to much."
Spring rates will be 10k/8k.
I will post more pics, weight, and impressions later - I just wanted to get the first pictures up.
Question about installation: I was all geared up and ready to install these myself using some how-to guides and you guys on H-T as resources. Most of the guides talk about installation of coilovers as a single pre-assembles unit. These coilovers have arrived not as a single piece and I will need to install the springs, helper springs, upper pillow ball mounts, etc. Is this going to make installation much more difficult? Will I need a spring compressor?

YOu probably won't need a spring compressor... unless you're going for a 4x4 look.
If for some reason you need to use a spring compressor, the best way is to take your suspension setup to a tireshop and use their wall-mounted industry use spring compressor. It only take a minute w/ these things and they will only charge you either
or $20 tops.

Nicey nice!!!
well, j00 shouldn't need a spring compressor, unless those new sus require parts off the old sus (which I don't think it does).
The fronts will be a little bit harder than rears, but the install should be pretty straight forward.
One thing I suggest is to take careful measurements of the spring height and keep a record of it.

I recommend using the 10k springs in the rear.
Also you *might* want to rethink using upper pillowball mounts on a street car.
No remote reservoirs?

Very nice suspension. Congrats on the new toy!
When you put the pillow mount together, MAKE SURE you put in the pieces in correct order. I've heard dramatic difference in suspension performance if pillow mount is not installed correctly, even if it's as small as a washer or a nut.

What is that correct order? I cannot read the Japanese instructions...

that will be a nice setup
If you dont have a spring compressor (im sure you dont have)
I usually go to a local auto shop and they are willing to help me out by assembling the spring/strut combo
or you can buy basic ones for under 50 bucks, then loan them to friends or whatever when they need them

i just looked on the todaracing.com site. are there anymore specs on the FS coilovers then what's stated? full aluminum.. you should weigh each coilover! we should get coil over weights like wheel weights...
