This Saturday, Portland International Raceway was host to the Alfa Romero Car Cub. Luckily, the club allows anyone and everyone to come and enjoy a day at the track. This particular day was sunny and slightly warm with two very nice ITRs. One PY, and one CW.

I didn't know the owner of the CW R, but I have seen him race before. He one the Rose Cup races at PIR not too long ago

The PY ITR was owned by Big Phat R. It is absolutely the nicest ITR that I have ever seen in person .

Jonathan (Big Phat R) was nice enough to give me a ride in his beast. All I can say is: WOW !! What a ride! I had no idea that our cars could do what he did. He is a great driver and definitely gives me something to shoot for.

How did the WRXs fair against the ITRs? Just curious...not trying to start a flame war. Also, what mods did the WRXs have, if you know?

My guess is the lens

 

The camera had a add-on telephoto lens on it. When you soom out all the way, it shows the extended lens. Sometimes we forget to take it off for bigger pics

 

The WRXs were definitely fast, but they just didnt have it in the corners. Unfortunately though, I don't think the Rs were in the same class as the WRXs. Either that or I just didn't see em cuz I was so foccused on the Rs

Keep in mind though, The Type Rs had many more mods (it seemed) and looked to be no stranger to the track...

Thanks for the props Alex. You have a great car too - and yer dad's ain't to shabby either.

That was a great track day - my most fun event at PIR ever. It is a humbling track that rewards precision driving.....and am looking forward to going there again soon.
