Default Soft brake pedal

Hey,
Tomorrow im leaving for a track event and i changed my brake fluid tonight. After it was all said and done, the pedal felt soft and it seemed like ABS kicked in too early (driving around on the street). I have speed bleaders and i used my vacume canister to suck the fluid through. I pumped the pedal when i was changing the fluid a bunch of times.....what went wrong? I dont know how air could have gotten into the lines....i guess im gonna have to do it again tomorrow b/c it just doesnt feel right. Any advice? Oh yea this is in a type R.....help

Does it get softer when the car is hot?

I know this was a problem for many brake masters, and I recently had to change mine out because of this.

Works fine now.

Try bleeding your brakes again. If that doesn't solve it, check your brake master cylinder.

Default Matt's basic brake troubleshooting guide

It has been my personal experience that a soft brake pedal is 95% of the time due to 2 things: air in the system somewhere for some reason, and glazed friction material.

When changing your fluid, if you remove the old fluid by opening a bleed screw and pump it all through, do NOT let the MC suck air. You'll be chasing out air bubbles for a while. Yes, I've done this. It's much better to suck the old fluid out of the reservior with a turkey baster or a Mity-vac. I got a Mity-vac as a present a few years ago and use that.

When changing fluids, be sure the two are compatible. Silicon fluid is NOT compatible with glycol.

I do not know what actually is happening when you glaze the friction material. I do know it's an indication you've overheated the material. The pedal becomes very spongy and the car won't stop for ****. At this point the pads are pretty much done.

Other possibilities are bulging brake lines or possibly bent backing plate.

As for the MC test, if the pedal is firm, but slowly sinks to the floor under constant pressure, you're MC is bad.
