I want to turbocharge my lude ***PLEASE READ***
first of all --- I ALREADY SEARCHED and came up with nothing!!!..lol
now that that is out of the way....
This is the thing, i want to turbo charge my car. I cannot spend more than 4k total. I have a total of about 120k miles so i might need to rebuild. I do not want to boost too much since it will be on my daily driver. Also i am very open to custom turbo kits. Basically i dont care if i cant squeeze 50whp from the turbo.. i just want to be able to say that i have a turbo, and also i want to install it myself.. thought it might be a good learning experience... please give me some suggestions on what to do... should i get a custom turbo?? if i buy a kit will i need to rebuild??? TIA

get one of those fake BOVs, buy a plastic intercooler... get a boost gauge, and find a way to flip around the display so when you're in vaccuum it'll look like your boosting... and umm, if someone asks u to pop the hood say "naw dawg, can't do that"
dunno, but seriously, do you want to spend 4k to just be able to "say that i have a turbo" ?
... just something to think about...

obviously i want to gain performance... but the idea of having a turbo charged car and having that heavenly psshhhtt sound of a blow-off valve will boost my ego
... no but seriously.... i want to be the fastest lude in town.. and right now turbo seems to be the way to go....

You can do it, just do your research on what you need to make it work right. I am done and only spent maybe a few hundred total. But I am ghetto.

um... yo can buy a turbo "kit" for that much and get a decent gain in power, plus you'll have the cool BOV sound and an FMIC, but you won't be happy. i had a frined with a JDM B16 in an EG that he put a turbo on, he wasn't satisfied, he sold the setup and bought a B18C5. i, on the other hand have just spent close to $12k so far on my turbo setup, and will probably spend at least another $3k. but it will be EVERYTHING!!!! mad power gains to, like almost triple the HP.
forgot to mention/..... IT'S DAILY DRIVEN

$4k, complete drag gen 3 setup w/ all the extras
if you will be satisifed with only 200whp, you can't go wrong with a small shot of nitrous oxide. just get all th eextras, spend about $600 on a good setup, no worries about the enigine, and if you still want boost you can save up and do it right

as long as your rings are ok, a GOOD turbo system and some good fuel tuning, you should be able to push about 10-12psi out of your stock motor. i know guys with B series motors that do this all the time. H23s are closed deck, much stronger than any b-series (other than the ones they used to have in Ludes), and even better than the H22A4 (like i've got). like i said, a good FMU, or an SAFC hack, and you should be good to run 10 psi. with a good kit, you should push out anywhere from 230-250whp

What I'm trying to say is if you want to turbo on a budget, that's a problem...the ongoing suport of a turbo is $$$

agreed, but from what i've heard, if you spend the money the first time, it'll save you in the long run

I disagree. If you don't want to blow your motor, don't boost that high on your stock motors. I know b series do it, but our ringlands are weak and will break. If you don't want to blow your motor, I personally wouldn't go over 6-7 psi. Even then, it is still possible that you will blow your engine. Don't get a turbo unless you can afford to fix your engine if this happens.
My ringlands lasted about 3 weeks at 7 psi with occasional 10 psi runs. This was on a stock h23 with 68,000 miles with a tuned hondata. So, believe what you want, but I know 10 psi didn't work for me.
Dude, dont go off and spen 4k on something that wont giv eyou 50 whp. Go jackson racing supercharger. You can probobly come in for under 4 an dhave alot more than 50 whp gain. Also, think about the little thing, Intake, h/CAT/Exhaust. If you dont have i cat i would say get one. 6 hp if you have intake anf exhaust. Dont blow 4k. spend it ang get some hp

You obviously don't have a Prelude. JR does not make a SC for the H23, or an SC that will fit on a 4th gen for that matter.
I JRSC on an H22a yeilds 60-70whp, about the same as a 6-7psi turbo setup, actually turbo is usually a little higher. So I don't know how an SC has more potential than a turbo. Smaller pulley or more boost what's the difference?

if you had the VTEC model, you MIGHT be able to adapt the JRSC from the 5th gen, but it wouldn't be worth it anyways.....
