I've been looking at www.jdmhondaparts.com to get prices on JDM conversions. They sell HID housings, and non-HID housings. What's the difference? Can't you just install an aftermarket HID conversion kit into the non-HID housings?

the OEM HID housing obviously project the HIDs better; it spreads the light evenly with a razor sharp cutoff.
you can put a HID kit in a NON-HID housing, but it wont project the light as nice.

 

if you look at the housing the actual HID headlights dont have those horizontal lines going over the projectors
the non-hid's do

Geezus....you pay a grand extra for the HID housings....doesn't seem worth it to me...

 

if he got the money go for HID...y not......but all i know is that if he did purchase the HID lights, it be better looking then yours. You go ahead and buy those cheap $50 lights of yours.

WHAT YOU PAY IS WHAT YOU GET......do you really think those $50 can compare to $1000 lights. CMON now. If he doesnt have the money like you, then i guess he just dont buy the HID lights. but dont be saying its not worth it becuase HID lights is the best out there, Im sure if you had the money for it...you would purchase it

 

The HID projectors aren't covered by the lense.

No conclusion about whether the optics in the projector are different tho.

 

yeah you right. I would purchase them if i had money.. left .. after engine work, turbo and suspension. and rent and food and bills.. in other words.. if money wasn't an object. if that isn't the case, I would have to agree that they aren't worth it.

i wouldn't classify HIDs as speed nor looks heh. they would, however, be a performance mod since it would help visibility.
unless of course you get them for the way HIDs look I suppose?

 

That's what alot of folks do. They pop em in so they got the HID look and don't bother to re-aim the lights.
