Cobalt Friction Technologies -- Breaking News & GRM Ad Preview
As the season is winding down, I had time today to put together the long-awaited Cobalt ad for Grassroots Motorsports magazine. (Joe did a great sales job on me via the telephone and also at LMS/Concord...so I bit the bullet and said "yes".)
Here is a link, in case you'd like to preview the ad. As always, comments are welcome. Enjoy!

For the latter part of the current season, Cobalt will be introducing our own "big brake kit" line -- CAD-designed to aerospace tolerances, and utilizing the highest quality components/materials. Kits will be available for the NSX, S2000, RSX-S, and ITR, as well as several other vehicle makes, including BMW, Mercedes, Porsche, Ferrari, etc.
Cobalt is also looking forward to the December introduction of our own high-performance brake fluid: COBALT SUPER XRF, with a dry boiling point of 610F, and a wet boiling point of 421F, which places it in the Motul RBF 600 performance category. The key to the COBALT SUPER XRF is that it is far less hygroscopic than other racing brake fluids, and thus allows for extended fluid bleed/change intervals (i.e. it will take longer for the fluid to degrade to the wet-bp).
Lastly, the Cobalt GT-R.spec race compound will be introduced to the market some time in mid-December, in time for next season. The first 100 sets will be sold at an introductory rate of 30% off list prices (list prices will range from $119-$159, depending on the fitment); the Cobalt GT-R.spec is a full race/track compound. More information can be found on our website at

As always, Cobalt appreciates the continued business and support from Honda-Tech.com members, and looks forward to providing you with industry-leading customer service and responsiveness, our best-of-breed product line, and superior technical support for many years to come!
Best Regards,
Andie

Nice ad.
How big a wheel would be required for your ITR big brake kit?
I don't suppose it would fit inside the stock 15".

Any anticipated pricing on the brake fluid? ATE range? RBF600 range? hopefully not Castrol SRF range...
I'll probably be about out of Motul by the end of the season.

Details -->
The Cobalt Race Systems Brake Upgrade Kits include:
*Cobalt 4-Piston CAD-designed Billet Aluminum Brake Caliper
- differentially bored on an application-specfic basis
- dust boots
* 2-piece, floating rotors with 7075 T-6 Billet Aluminum hats
- anti-rattle clips/mounting system
- plain faced or hard-edged slotted
- directionally vented
* Race-spec SS Braided Brake Lines
* 2 Bottles of Ate Super Blue Racing Fluid or Cobalt Super XRF
* All necessary mounting hardware
* Axxis Ultimate Brake Pads
For the ITR, specifically, we will utilize a 328mm x 28mm rotor, thus requiring a 17" wheel. Additionally, most wheels will require the use of a hubcentric wheel spacer and longer studs/bolts. The issue for fitment, aside from wheel diameter itself, will be the backspacing and offset, which is where the spacers come into place.
I will have a "worksheet" available for download on our website which will walk you though taking measurements to see if a specific wheel will fit (or not).
Best Regards,
Andie

We're looking at a price-point somewhere between ATE and Motul.

Thanks for the brake info.
However at the moment I'm loaded up on 3 sets of 15" and one set of 16" wheels.
However at the moment I'm loaded up on 3 sets of 15" and one set of 16" wheels.

I've already identified a few wheels which are light, strong, and fit this brake kit with the smallest possible spacer, or no spacer at all, and plan to source/sell the wheels to my brake kit customers at near-wholesale. This is one case where the wheel itself is considered an "accessory", which is how I view products like brake fluid. Accessories don't get marked up very much on my end, since I do not consider them to be a core product line.

Thanks again!
My car should be going in for its upgrades in a couple weeks, then after it's done and I get in a track day or two ... and see how much $$ is left!
I still haven't mounted up the last stuff yet. Ed
