Default Maybe IMPOSSIBLE to remove AC CRX Heater Fan ?? No answers!

No answers in 2 days to this one. How do you remove the heater fan and motor for replacement? I pulled the three mounting screws and it starts to drop, but there is not enough room to get it out.

HELP PLEASE.

A Helms, a Helms. My kingdom for a Helms. You should get a manual. Even a cheaper one at your local pep boys should show you.

I have a Haynes, usually pretty good, and it says I "may have to remove the AC evaporator first". Believe it or not, this AC has never been refilled and it still works. I REALLY hate to tear it down.

Thanks for answering.

Hate to be the bearer of news-but You will have to move the evaporator case out of the way. It is directly connected to the heater housing (I have a complete spare blower) and to the blower housing with straps. It is not a difficult as it looks-just take the glove box and its mounts out first.

O.K. , so I ordered a Helms. Looked like a thing I should have, even at the price. I don't quite understand some of the brief instructions on moving the blower box, but maybe with the Helms it will all be clear.

Thanks everyone!

The CRX is red and old and dinged, but still has lots of pep. 160K miles. Great gas mileage too. Ed

Now Helms Inc. says it will take many weeks to get me the book. I may melt or freeze before I get this thing fixed.

How about a bit more detail on how to unmount and move the blower box?

i had my stuff all apart when i took my dash off, but i think you could move it with the dash on. take off the glove box and the horizontal bar behind it, as well as the two straps that are attached to the condensor (black box). disconnect the AC lines and drop out the black box, and take out the 3 gold colored 10mm bolts from the blower motor box. you don't have to disconnect the AC lines and take out the condensor box, but my car already had the AC removed so it wasn't a big concern for me.
