Default turbo accord worth it?

so far i got sitting in my room for my auto 94 accord ex (f22b1)=

-turbonectics t3 super 60 turbo
-turbo performance manifold (chrome-plated)
-turbo performance downpipe
-hks ssqv blowoff valve
-tial 35mm wastegate (.45 spring)
-a'pexi turbo timer
-blitz 52mm bl boost gauge
-greddy universal gauge pod
-flex-a-lite turbo cooler

i'm waiting for the rest of the kit from DRAG for a custom setup... (like the intercooler, piping, and all the little necessary parts, etc)... so far i got on my car aem short ram, 5zigen catback, testpipe, and VAFC (not tuned yet-VTEC set to 3500rpms)... i'm wondering if my car will be significantly faster at around 6psi against cars like mildly modified integras, preludes, and civic hatches... anyone have experience with a turbo'd accord..? what cars will i be able to run against..? i'm wondering if nitrous would've been a better option for drag racing... but turbo you don't need a refill...

If you run 8psi, you will notice an incredibly large difference in performance.

what do you run daily..? i've heard conflicting comments about what's considered safe for daily driving... some say 6, 7, or 8 psi on a stock accord motor cause of the low compression... but others say the accord motor is weak... one dude said he was running 10 psi daily, stock internals, but well-tuned... if worst comes to worst, i guess i will look into a boost controller (prolly greddy profec-b) if the car doesn't "feel" fast enough... i guess 6 psi for low and 8 psi for high boost... any other details on your ride and setup..?

Let me tell you that the F22B1 is one of the strongest motors Honda has made. I will be running 11psi daily, and I think that you could run about 8 with a good setup.

what's a good setup..? and what's your current setup..? that VAFC/440cc injectors hack seems interesting for boosting 10 psi smooothly but i don't get how the VAFC will work with low and high boost...

with the accords mild compression, 10 psi isn't too bad for the stock f22 motor...i would recomend 8 psi but 10 will get the job done with some extra power...with 10 psi you can expect around 180-200 hp at the wheels (this is with stock internals of course) and more tourque than you know what to do with...the accord is just begging for boost!

Expect more like 230.

from what i hear for hondas, 1 bar equals aprox. 100hp, so it would be 200ish i'd say...

WTF!? 1bar=14.7psi. And you don't need to run sloppy rich with an Accord, so it is a lot more than you'd think. The Accord motor is not typical by any means.

hondas make WAY more than 100 hp for 1 bar of boost. Thats 14 psi son.

yea-that's what i thought... 180-200 hp at 10 psi..? 230 hp would be nice... and i believe you're right about the bar to psi conversion... i think i read that in a super street one time... "dumb questions about turbocharging" i think... 1 bar equals 14.7 psi...

I got 238hp/243ftlbs at 10 psi and 253hp/264ftlbs at 13 psi

Quit listening to the people that say the F22B1 isnt worth modding

are you keeping your automatic? if you have the extra money, get the h23 5-spd tranny swap. you will love it with boost.

I was told the H23 had shorter gearing. Its hard enough to stay in boost with a 6250 red line and the longer gearing of the F22.

Isnt that taking a step the wrong direction?

no, because the tranny and the engine are two seperate things, when you shift, you will still be at an rpm that is suitable to engage the turbo, you just will be at a different speed...rpm's and speed are two different things

niedejb, i am not worthy..! yea i know the F22B1 isn't a POS... it's still kicking after so many miles... hopefully it won't "kick it" soon...

Razor, yea i am keeping the automagic... hopefully i will be able to reinforce it and/or add a tranny cooler or something after the turbo install... for the price of a H23 5-spd tranny swap/conversion, might as well get H23 engine too right..?

generalizing 'hondas make 100hp per bar' seems kinda ridiculous to me.. anyone else???

PS: i'll be runing 10psi on my F22A1 for now. when i get it on the dyno i'd like to tune for 12 as well though.
