lightweight battery -vs- cold weather driving, who has some experience?
I'm looking to relocate the battery to the rear hatch and am looking into two SLA batteries for the job. I'm leaning towards the smaller battery but am concerned with its cold weather ability. Here are my choices:
1. Dyna Batt clone 16 Ah, 280 cca, 14 lbs, $70, half the size of #2
2. Odyssey clone 28 Ah, 470 cca, 23 lbs, $125, twice the size of #1
I know people on H-T have had good luck using the Dyna Batt type batteries in their cars but who has experience with these batteries in cold weather use. I have no choice but to drive in cold Mid-West temperatures during the winter months. So basically I feel that a thumbs up from this battery use in CA is not enough info for me in the desolate Mid-West.
Can anyone supply some input on this?

No first hand experiance, but I talked with someone over the weekend who had a Dyna Batt on his ITR. He said that he had no problems with cold starts in michigan weather, even after the car had sat for a few weeks.
He also didn't have a stereo system, but I don't think that would effect cold starts?

I just bought an Odyssey PC 625 for $57 from here

I did have to change the my cable ends, but it was no big deal to me. I'll have to see how it does this winter....I'm not worried in the least...I never cranked my car over more than twice even in 15 degree weather.
Link not working...damn smiley faces.

Thanks fellas that is just the info I was hoping for.
If it can handle MI winters then IL winters should be no problem.
Anyone else??

for the record (archives), sealed lead acid ('SLA') batteries, such as the ones you have described, are supposed to have much better cold start characteristics than normal lead acid batteries...
