how do people feel abou this product i installed one on my block and i have had no over heating problems and i am ready to run 14psi at it so see how it handles that, what is the most boost people have run on this product so far, i have 9:1 compression thank you

If you tune it right, you shouldnt have any problems.

 

I used it and had no problem running 13psi in my GSR

 

at first, i wanted to go with the nuformz block guard because its 1) cheaper than sleeving and 2) it's supposed to work well.

unfortuneately, it's the poor man's "block sleeve." i've heard they crack, overheat, etc.. so i decided not to get it.

since you already have the block apart, might as well do it right the first time and have it sleeved.

so then thank the turbo gods...and go along your merry way. I hate when people just throw terms...like "do it right and get it sleeved"...man...you help me fork over $800 to do it right. Its better to sleeve...but its not the only way.

 

A guy I know has one (STR) in his GSR block, stock sleeves. Arias pistons. Running 1.1 ~ 1.2 Bar Daily and no problems.

Originally he had Type R pistons+Blockguard and melted them at 17 psi because the HKS wastegate broke. The sleeves were in perfect condition. And the motor ran good for 2 years @ 12-13 psi, until the Wastegate broke and would not go lower then 17 psi.

Its all about how you install the blockguard. You have to make sure that the guard fits on the outside of the sleeves semi-loose. You have to sand the guard by hand till you can pretty much put the guard in by hand. When you can do this, make sure you get the guard down in the cylinder jacket about 1/4"~1/2" and you will not have any problems at all. I have run block guards before and its the way you install them, not the block guards themselves. Most ppl just assume to tap them in and only recess them 1/16" below the cylinder sleeve. This is what promotes cracking of the sleeves and overheating.

so iam i gonnna have problems if i only tapped it in just below the deck, i search online and thats about all the info i found was to just tap it in, i mean i havenet had any overheating problems yet
