Check this out......what do you think......TOLUENE?
Browsing through the net on some M5 forums, I´ve come upon this article, talking about the benefits of toluene as octane booster.......I know that many people say that they are worthless, while on the other hand some say they are very good on high CR engines (hondas for example......)

Any thougts before I try it out???

wanna see what I picked up a couple weeks ago?
I haven't cracked it open yet. But that should happen soon.

I picked that up at Cloverdale Paint right behind Diamond Jims Grill.
747 Ohio St.
It was $25 for the 5 gallon I think. I haven't checked out Sherman Williams on Magnolia (by 20th century bowling), so it could be cheaper there.
I walked into the place and asked for "too-lean", but I guess it's pronounced "toy-lean". Oh well..

I've used it before.
On an RS I don't know how much you'll notice it...but it's worth a try for kicks.

Back from the dead. Anyways, everyone talks about this for FI, what about NA? California blows for having the lowest octane rating in all of the US. Japanese motors should run 94, but we get dicked at 91. maybe running 98 or 97 would be nice.
Toluene, actually pronounced "tal-u-ene" is composed of a benzyl ring with a methyl substituent, is highly toxic and carcinogenic. a.k.a if u drop this on ur skin, it will absorb into your body. no joke. you can make lots of interesting stuff with this aromatic compound.

i've used toulene before... it does work.
race gas is actually cheaper at the track but both the race gas and toulene worked pretty well for me.
yes it IS potent stuff, and sometimes you need an ID to buy it because there are people out there that freaking use the stuff to cut methaphetamines with.
if you can get a 5 gallon drum for 25 bucks, DO IT! that's really good. it costs me 6 bucks a gallon @ shermin-williams.

got my answer...
anyone else use it? and basically it only increases octane being of a higher concentration
and u just cant have more than 30% toluene in that tank at once?

Well, It's been a while since this post started, and it has been used in our CRX now. Runs great.
Used it in a 20% mixture. I'll have to go back and get another drum of it soon.

What do I think about it? I think it's great stuff. I put it in my gas tank for the first time several weeks ago and have really noticed a diference on the way the car runs. Look up rocket fuel on the net and it wil tell you that toluene is the primary ingredient that causes octane to raise. Something that I have really noticed is that you can't really smell it the way you can smell race gas. What I noticed is that the fumes comming out of my tail pipe smell cleaner. My brother noticed that it smells like Howell race fuel. It was also used back way when in the formula 1 race circut, so they could run so much boost and not cause engine damage. So use it is really good stuff. A formula to remember is 10% toluene when using 93 octain will raise it too roughly 95 oct. 20% 98 oct. 20% roughly 104 oct..

20% does what?

Xylene has a much higher octane rating (~117), so I suggest that over Toluene. I'd also add a tablespoon or two of Marvel Mystery oil for your seals.

Say I go to the gas station to fill up and an integra takes about 11 gallons and I wanna mix 30% toluene about how much is that like 2 gallons?
