Default :mad:My car is the #1 Studda?!?!

I do not know what is up with my car! When i swapped it in it kind of studdered the first couple days but then went away. Ive put in a new fuel filter, wires, plugs, cleaned up the points and the rotor. And i was hoping it would all be fixed when i put in my new o2 sensor today, and it did....for 20 minutes, and then the studdering came back. What happens is, ill be driving around fine for a while(2-10min.) and then the car will not want to accelerate at all(it just studders and bogs down hard), unless im at full throttle, at which point it accelerates fine. WHAT COULD IT BE?!?! im getting angry with my car i dont have a clue what the problem could be. HELP!!!

Check the fuel pressure. That's a good start.

my car acted like that when we ghetto rigged my distributor coil to get it to start.

When I finally got a new coil and all the wire where connecting it worked fine. No saying its the coil but check the basic ignition stuff too.

Just something to help out

You check the fuel pressure by attatching a pressure gauge between the filter and the engine.

The symptoms you are giving could be just about anything, though. But, you piddled around with the fuel system and the ignition before the problem came back, so I'd look through those systems first. Checking the fuel pressure would be a start, and then you can start with the grounds.

Until you make these go away, the other things we can tell you might not help. Buy a manual, and figure out if it's REALLY the o2 sensor and VSS, or a wiring problem, or ECU problem.

had the exact same shiit when I installed my headers. Turns out that one of the solders going to the relocated O2 sensor had come loose.. Do you have headers? Its definately electrical. with the rain causing it to flare up.

Ah-ha! there's the problem! Don't you know cars hate it when you use them to deliver food items?

im just wondering what it could be. im thinking it has to be something electrical too. was running fine with no studdering etc until it rained. but i still have the o2 code and vss code. shouldnt have anything to do with the vss though. man. its sooo frustrating.

I have the same exact problem with my '90 Teg. Replaced the wires, plugs, fuel filter, pcv valve, and checked timing. Still studders when starting off.

It's funny that you mention "rain," because mine is even worse after it rains. To me, this is an electrical problem where water/condensation is shorting something. My best guess is that it is a sensor.

Unfortunately, I have no fuggin idea where to look next. It has been happening for so long that I have given up trying to figure it out.

what should i check since its still throwing the o2 code after changing the o2? its really hard to see much of anything under the intake mani.

umm... well maybe i am wrong, but now it sounds even more like a fuel problem, because, when your car thows a cel it goes in to SAFE MODE and then dumps more fuel in to be on the safe side, so it could be another sensor that is causing the problem maybe your maf? not sure, btw have you tried resetting the ECM??
