Some before and after pics of my CRX build, since people keep askin' (lots 'o BIG pics)
The rex is far from finished, and indeed it's still not even legal for wheel-to-wheel competition (still needs door bars, window new, kill switch, etc. to be installed). Still, I have made some progress which I think is pretty damn good since I spent an average of 100 hours/week in the hospital last month
These really aren't the latest pictures but they pretty much show the progress of the big stuff. I need to get some exterior pics up too, but I don't have any good ones (plus it looks pretty stock outside, just a little lower and some required stickers). Feel free to offer opinions, good or bad, but keep in mind there is a lot of work left to do (most of it is welding). I have a few free days coming up so I should reach the first of many "done for now" levels where I'm actually driving the damn thing. Now here's the goods:
Before:
After:
Before:
After:
Welding new foot plates onto a bolt-in cage (I'll show you guys more of these for anyone interested when it's done):
Just like I like 'em, tight fit:
WTDR rocks! Thanks for the web space!!

Didn't the AMA recently reduce the numbe rof hours residents were allowed to work per week? Or was it just a suggestion with no real effect? Just curious.

[/unexpected rant]Thanks for the comments. To the misfits fans, I had the same idea. However, I was in such a "clean it and strip it" mode that everything had to go. "Misfit" stands as the knickname, though, even though my girlfriend calls it the killer bee. I think either one is fitting.
As usual, I'll keep everyone updated on the build as things change, but these obviously represent the biggest changes. The foot plates may be done as early as this weekend so I'll have some pics up of those for anyone who is interested in doing something similar. They turned out really good, I think (not custom cage quality, but costom cage safety).
How do you have invested so far? If you dont mind me asking.
Best of luck with the car!

As for the cage, it was shipped to me for just under $800 as a semi-custom job from Kirk. Still to be installed are the passenger's side "X" door bar and the driver's side nASScar door bars, which were included in the price. The base cage was $600, with several bars and braces added. Overall, you can't beat it for the price. When I'm done, all the sleeves will be welded between the bolt in sections, and it will be padded of course.
Okay, one more before and after mug shot. The "after" shot isn't even the most recent since I have now removed the mad skillz bubble tint and I have added most of the required stickers for both SCCA and NASA. Still, it's raining out side (and has been all weekend, yea, in Arizona
) so I can't give you the latest just yet, but it could almost pass for a racecar. Hopefully the next round of pics will be...gasp...action shots!
Before (strangely, this seems to be the only pic I have of the CRX and the ITR together):

for the misfits fans did anyone think it was rediculous that it was 19 dollars a ticket for the latest tour, and there was only one original member? anyways....good work, and try and find some new misfits stickers!
Mad props to your tint guy
