Default drove in ITR, and drove a WRX today

3 nights ago, i was talking to an owner of a yellow ITR in my neighborhood about what he was doing to it and such. then i said, i had never heard vtec in a type r, and he's like wanna go for a ride? i gotta get gas. i was like hellll yea. so i hopped in with a friend of mine, we got gas/octane booster, and drove off. off the line it wasn't fast, but it wasn't a slouch, then at 5000 rpms, i'm like is that vtec? he said not quite...then 5800 and umm, i think i sh*t my pants, it sounded so nice!!! i can't even explain it, and i was glued to my seat till 9400 rpms, he has new internals, so it can handle 10k. after th ride of my life he told me his header makes the vtec so loud. by the way, i must say, that was one of the coolest integra owners i've ever met. if you live in chicago and see a yellow itr with a chubby asian lookin guy in it, talk to him, or say hey or somethin, he is cool as hell.

but then today, my friend got one of my other friend's wrx from him to "go get his phone from his house." instead he called me and we went for a ride in the wrx. that car is fasssssssst. after my friend driving for about 10-15 minutes, we pull into a parking lot, and he gets out, and says, this will be the fastest car u've even drivin. that it was, i drove in the parking lot for a minute to get the hang of the clutch/awd. as i pulled onto the street i gun it and i flew into my seat. man was i in love. we get to a stop light, and after a little confrontation of almost stalling from being surprised of the truck next to me gunning it when the light turned green, i get ahold of some gear and gun it, ride it out till 7000, psssh, shift to second, like that i was up to 60. IT IS FAST. and the AWD drive rocks!! that car is amazing i tell ya.

Can you give us more info on the mods to the ITR, and the scooby? None of my friends own modded cars Except one with a slightly modded 96 mustang gt. I can handle him though.

When I test drove the WRX a year and half ago I was not too impressed. I loved the fact that I could dump the clutch in wet pavement and it just shot forward I will probably buy a used one in a year or two.

the scoob was bone stock. and may i add, it handled tons better than our tegs...AWD, and it actually has a turning radius

the ITR had...hmm lemme think, DC 4-1 SS headers, high compression pistons ...i forgot the ratio, i new cams/cam gears, new sleeving, *EDIT - he also has an AEM CAI*. he said he's gettin a stand-alone soon, and a few more things. i liked it a ton.

to say a wrx can out handle a teg is a *bit* of an overtatement. they'll feel faster b/c they can out accelerate...but that is about it. what a lot of people do not understand is the style of driving that the wrx is tuned for and the type of surfaces its designed to be faster than everything else on. for example...take the ABS system on a WRX....on street it is a bit intrusive, especially in an autoX type situation when you can get the suspension loaded hit the brakes...it doesn't allow any lock-up whatsoever...but get on some dirt and gravel and suddenly that over-intrusive ABS is a godsend for the average joe who thinks he's hot $hit off the pavement b/c he has a WRX. believe or not...WRX's push like a pig on ice...bottom line. to eliminate that you need a huge rear sway bar and some serious spring rates.

consider what type of driving and surfaces where in mind when Honda engineers designed the Integra and you'll have a much better understanding about this matter....and no I'm not trying to flame anyone...just trying to clear up a big misconception that alot of people (including me, until I had first hand experience in the matter ) have.

AWD doesn't help the handling. I think bone stock, Integra (non Type-R) vs WRX, they are about equal. But let me say this again. AWD doesn't help the handling. It might help getting the power down to the ground.

i havnt driven a ITR but i test drove a WRX.. I wasnt impress'd. In fact i was kinda disapointed. The amount of bost that car runs plus AWD and it didnt even handle that well. Maybe it was just because i've been driving around with my suspention so long but makeing a 90 degree turn at around 35 mph the car seams to want to slide straight rather than turn. (tires i'm sure had alot to do with this). Not only that but only could feel boost in first... I think their over rated...

Lets put a turbo on the RSX-S and run the same amount of boost and see how it preforms..

obviously youre goin to dig the WRX more because it has turbo. boost is addicting. all motor... the ITR vtec sounds pretty damn nice and the car picks up.

IMHO i prefer the type-r i have friends with both. I like the way the itr drives better. By the way, I live like 15 min. from hoffman estates.

so get the best of both worlds (except awd), get a ITR, put it 9.1:1 compression pistons in, then turbo that baby and listen to VTEC and spooling at once....

In stock form, down the quater mile, the WRX beats the ITR as I recall....however, in a auto cross situation, which is really what the ITR was designed for, it owns.

Said nicely , but the ITR bone stock vs. Bone stock WRX is a good race! Mid 14's out of both cars bone stock with good drivers!!

but mod for mod the WRX will come out on top
also the WRX will make an excellent auto x and road coarse car. the WRx is not a drag race car as people might think

hey, im the guy that took jiggykooandy out in the rex, and i have personally driven in a type r also that was pretty modded, same one as jiggy, and i drive the wrx around quite a bit, and im not trying to say that integras arent good cause i do like them and everything, its just i dont think that all of you give the wrx enough credit, it has great handling i dont know what you are talking about that, and eventhough it runs at a huge boost for stock i would definately say that i can notice a difference between the wrx and the itr. i know im going to be flamed like crazy for this so dont take any of this the wrong way, jiggykoo and i argue about it everyday and i think we should just face the facts and give props to both cars for being very well made and both being extremely fun cars to drive
ENOUGH SAID, hope you all agree

reason WRX has hi boost stock cus of the low compression ratio 8.0:1
were as ITR/GSR has 10.6/10.0:1

also WRX has very small turbo about the size of my fist were a t3/t4 is way bigger.

once u upgrade the turbo in the WRX, power is alot more and efficient.

i love my WRX and my honda

I have driven both an ITR and a WRX. Here are my thoughts....

I drove the WRX first, and to me it felt very fast. Very fun car to drive... but again.. i felt it didnt handle that good. It just felt a little sloppy. Then i drove my buddy's ITR. Well, to be honest, i thought it was gonna be faster. Its really not that fast. In a straight line, stock vs stock, the WRX pulls WAY harder. But the ITR had a great feel to it. I took it on some twisties and it handled GREAT... plus .. there is nothing like revving to 8400 rpm. It all comes down to personal preference. I love both cars and if i ever had to choose i would have to think about it for a loooong time...
