I did you try the search blaze. Thanks for the great tip
I heard the b20\vtec very simular in power to an LS\vtec. You
just end up paying more for the b20, because of custom rods.

14.5 to 14.9 w/ a BONE stock in a crx!!! 14.7 to 15.2 in a hatch!
not bad for a stock B20.

Thats just like the LS bone stock. So they are about the same.
Of course the B20 tranny sucks. Slap a ys1 on any of these motors
and your sure to get better times.

you cant use a b20 tranny in a crx, unless you do a lot of custom work, but then if you do that, usually you would put a LSD ITR tranny anyways...

Please don't put a VTEC tranny on your stock b20 or LS. I've been there, it sucks. Yes the acceleration is better, but the gearing is too high. Cruising at 75 you run like 4500 RPM. With a good intake manifold(you can't use the stock b20), and a decent header(again the stock b20 stuff is trash). B20's put out just as much HP as a B16 and **** loads more torque. The power is all down low, peak HP is 6400, and Tq is around 5300. As long as you can get traction, a b20 is a nice platform to build from. You can go b20/vtec for N/A. The B20, much like the LS responds very well to boost also.

But stock b20, look for a mid-high 14 at least.

Seems to be a pretty nice motor.

??? i don't get this statement..for B series cable trannies there's pretty much 2 choices..LS (nonvtec) and something from a B16 or B17(vtec). there's several different vtec trannies, Y1, S1, YS1. sounds like you had the ultra short geared tranny. i'm running a Y1 VTEC tranny on a stock B20 and it's great.

110 was as high as I'd take it, that was close to boucing off the limiter in 5th

Great advice. So should I just use the LS tranny?
It has long gear ratio's.

going turbo then use the stock Ls tranny but if your going NA then i think you want to go with a Ls wit a GSR final drive. Im not sure if this is the correct set up, but its close to that.

Don't worry about using the YS1 transmission on a B20. Unlike a B16A or B18, the B20 has more than enough torque to pull the tall gearing. My HB can climb up any highway grade in fifth as fast as I want to go.

As for B20 vs LS ETs, the B20 does quite a bit better. On my 1988 HB, I did a best of 15.5 at 89MPH with a B18B and 15.0 at 92.6MPH with a B20. So it would seem that the B20 is about .5 second and 3.6MPH faster.
