Need a manual steering rack bushing...
I need the manual steering rack bushing for my 1993 Civic DX. I wanted to replace the old one as I was doing some tune-up work and saw it was a little beat up; and at 10 years old, I figured what the hell for a $5 part!
I had to cut the old one off and I figured the new one would have a slit to allow it to be put into place, 10 minute job, done. WRONG!!!
The bushing is NOT available as it comes on the rack itself, so the dealer sold me a P/S bushing and my friend and I had to rig that to make it work. Not to mention that the outer edge of the OEM bushing serves as a sealer bushing for the dust boot at the tie-rod, so that had to be rigged as well! It all works...
...Yet, I'd rather replace it with the OEM part which will have to be used at this point. Can somebody help? Thanks in advance.

I went thru something similar when I switch over from p/s to a manual rack. I didn't get a bushing when I purchased the rack from the salvage yard. It shows up in Helms. It shows up @ the dealer but like you said, you can't get it seperately. I ended up having a bushing made up out of delrin. I don't know what else you can do. As far as needing to seal other areas eg tie rod, it hasn't been a issue.
NO! That's the power steering unit bushing. This one had a flat back to it almost like a sway bar bushing, except then there's this round part to it where the tie-rod boot goes over it to create a weatherproof seal... 2 jobs in one!

I forgot to mention in the post above. The part I had made up is used with the powersteering mount. That way, it is just a big collar with the rack inside & the subframe/strap outside.
