just put in 9005 Silverstar conversion...
wow, very nice. they look like high beams from inside the car, very bright, its like u have fog lights too. however if your looking straight into the headlight from outside it looks like a vertical pillar... weird. i just hope it looks like HID from oncoming traffic. but on the whole, its very bright and white, i recommend it. oh yeah, and about modifying the bulb: (i heard this from someone else on the board and its good advice) forget about cutting/filing/soldering out those rails inside the Silverstar 9005 socket, just rip out that little plastic holder inside the bulb socket, then u can just stick it in. saved me a ton of work.
so, to sum up, silverstars =

i just did the conversion too. i can see a lot more now compared to my crappy bulbs before. i'm tryin to get a good digi cam so i can get some pictures
is it really that much brighter? i would like to see a comparison, b/c the 9006s i have seem to do the job, but i could always use more light.

9006 = 1000 lumens output
9005 = 1700 lumens output
70% difference, yes they are better. I had them in my car for about 4 months until one burned out for some reason (defective I guess, didn't explode or anything). Now I'm back to my 9005 Cool Blues, which have been used for over a year now with no problems.

i really coudln't tell much of a diff from 9005 cool blues to 9005 silverstars except the yellow tint was gone when i look at the headlights from outside the car, kinda dissappointed

I've done this also and for the money it was well worth it. I sodered the necesarry plastic to get it to fit rather than filing it away.
I've had this for a few months.. not bad for $50... one of my bulbs blew out so I decided to do this conversion and it was an improvement over the stock bulbs.. they had a sale at Kragen about a week or 2 ago where it was $5 off each bulb (or $10 off 2)...
toolow: i got them from Formula Honda in Scarbough, it's on Markham rd (sorry don't have address but they have a website formulahonda.com), ask for kevin in parts and tell him ken from clubsi sent you.
i think had a went from 9006 to 9005 silverstar it would of been good, but i may haev been used to the same range and brightness from the cool blues so thats why i'm a little disappointed.

Can you do the 9005 conv with the regular high beam bulb ? (I assume you could)
Anyone ever done/tried it ?)
Anyone ever done/tried it ?)
I don't think there really is any difference in light output between 9005 Cool Blue, 9005 Silverstar, or even just plain 9005 for that matter. Yes I would like to have the color of the 9005 Silverstars back, but I'm starting to think $50 even for a 9005 conversion is a bit much. My current 9005 Cool Blues have lasted over a year of use, and the color is better than stock, so I'll probably just stay with those.

High beams are already 9005 to begin with, no conversion.

9005 conversion gives you 70% more light output. Using Silverstar 9005's gives a MUCH whiter light than plain 9005's (but same light output).
70%? i thought it was 80%.....
guys, i would just recommend saving up for a set of HID's if you plan on doing this silverstar conversion. at 60 dollars a pair of bulbs, i wouldnt think its worth it anymore considering that you can pick up a set of used oem TL HID's for 150

9005 = 1700 lumens output
that's a 70% increase.
And TL HID's would be absolutely wrong for Integra projector lenses.
I have stock 9005s in my low beams and hipers 80w in my high beams. i dont remember if there was a huge differences. but it does seem a bit brighter than my sis stock gsr lights

Even with the strip on the HID bulb I'm sure the setup from an Acura TL would produce more light thant he silverstar conversion. Do the silverstar bulbs run at a higher wattage than the normal 9006 bulb's?
Does someone have a link to a website that shows the 9005 conversion?
And, that $150 TL HID conversion, does that include ballasts, or just the bulbs? If its $150 complete, I will do that!
