Default sway bar bracket bolts?

does anyone know what kind the bolts are that hold the s/b bracket to the car in the 89-91 civic's? is it a possible home depot buy, or do i have to source them out at the dealer?

More than likely it is a 8x20 bolt-washer (Honda and Acura part# 93403-08020-08).

i prefer to just get an oem part. when you get metric bolts for the hardware store, eventho the threads match up, the head may be a different size and stuff. which means its not the 10, 12, 14, 17, 19 mm socket convention and you gotta fish for a 15mm. just a bit annoying to me. plus oem bolts seem to be better than even the grade 8 hardware stuff, or at least engineered for the right application.

any local hardware stores or look under fasteners and you may find a shop that sells just bolts and nuts locally.

I've had lots of good luck with NAPA. They seem to have a really good selection of grade 8 bolts. Although what someone said above about the heads not being as good is 100% true. But they're dirt cheap and they work.

Another option is to find another bolt on the car that does the job, and look it up at hondaautomotiveparts.com and mail-order it. Or ask for that part at your dealer. Sometimes you can even just search by description and find something that works.

metric bolts come in 2 difrent ways 1 japinese 2 german. All jap hardware will have the 1.25 thread pitch. so you need a m8x1.25xabout 18mm long. so almost every bolt on a honda will have a 1.25 thread pitch up to about as 14mm bolt.,
German hardware changes pitch as the bolts get bigger. so when looking for bolts find out who made what you are working on, and you will have an easier time finding the right bolt.

for your application i would recomend getting a allen head bolt. because you loose clearance for the scoket as the sway bar bushing gets bigger.

if you are looking for a bigger sway bar e-mail me. i make a 7/8 adjustable bar to fit 94+integras. or check out jimfab.com
