92-96 prelude interior in a civic HB!! (pics inside)
I am working on putting the 4th gen prelude interior into my 1989 Civic HB. It is going pretty well at the moment but we will have to see how the dash is going to fit. My preliminary measurements shows that it is going to fit relatively well. If all goes well I will have a pic of it for you tomorrow. By the way, this is being done so that I can just plug all of the wiring in when I put the H22 in it soon. Here's some pics:
Here's a shot of the empty engine bay after we yanked the H22 yesterday.

Looks like this will actually fit better then some of the other attempts at replacing the civic/crx interiors. I like the door panels. But the dash isnt too appealing to me, looks alot like the 92-95 civic dash, which I never liked. Can you take some more pics of the doorpanels installed with the civic dash still in the car ? Btw, thats a pretty stolen looking stripped lude..
And on another side note, why are you trying to put a 4rth gen prelude engine in your hatch ? It will not handle right, and there are other things that would be easier, and much faster that you could stuff in there. Unless of course this stuff was all free, and youre doing it all because youre bored or something. Either way, keep us updated, there is nothing more that we enjoy then tons of progress pics

I do believe there are some people on this board who have done the h22 swap into there crx's/civic's and they all said that the handling wasnt that bad at all. And i do remember seeing a crx online with a h22 with i/h/e running high 12's. Granted the crx was completely gutted, it was still a very impressive time.

I did a small test one time, to try and figure out this whole weight problem. I took my craftsman jack, which weighs around 40lbs and took my tool set, another 30lbs and I stuffed them strategicaly in to my engine bay. I took the car around the block, to see what it would handle like. It drove the same way as it did when I had 2 donuts on the front. A funny frigitiy feeling, like I was driving through small gravel, or water. Nothing major, but I still didnt like it at all. Mind you this was with a d15 inside the engine bay, wich is not all that heavy, no intake, and battery in the back.
No enabi it is not stolen, it is my car and I wrecked it so I decided instead of selling all of these pieces which I love (aka the interior and the motor) and I figured I would put it to good use and try to make it work. I was going to do the GSR interior but I figured since I had the prelude interior I would try to make it work and it looks like it is going to work great. I promise I will have lots of detailed pictures and I will try to have as much of a detailed write-up as I can. Tomorrow I will be working on test fitting the dash so look for some pictures tomorrow.
its sad to see such a nice interior set up ( the civic interior ) go to waste becuz of some ricer project, i have a 90 si hatch i wouldnt trade the interior for any other interior especially prelude interior. electronic guage clusters ***** suck.

THIS would be ricey. However, trying to pull off a nice custom interior setup that HE WILL LIKE, even if you may not, is NOT RICEY. Well, not in my opinion, at least. But if you think so, then I probably won't change your mind.

to you my friend.
I think that you need to be just a little more open-minded about other stuff. I also think that you happen to be just a little jealous that you can't do it yourself so you feel as if bashing other people is the cool thing to do.

i would like to see this project when done as well..i used to have a 96 vtec lude and i love the way the door panel is and the way the dash looks...
you dont have to use the electronic gauges, you can put some
*insert fav. aftermarket gauge name here* and call it a day.

handling is not bad at all, very well streetable cars minus ac but custom lines isn't a problem.
As of matter of fact, there's a few running around in the sarasota/bradenton area
