Alright guys, I got my first honda-tech event off the ground today and the it turned out to be a good day. Even though i got my *** lost trying to find Chili's ( sorry again guys), it was a good turnout. We had 14 R's there and i was expecting near 19 so it wasn't that bad. I myself was late gettin there so that was kinda bad ( one hell of a host huh?). Well. we were sittin in Chili's after we got our drinks ( that we waited a good half hour for) and i was thinking about having a bbq event going on. I guess i enjoyed the day so much, i wanted to have another event before the weather got cold. I asked the guys and everyone said we should put something like that together. Well, the idea is being brought up again and i am calling all those who helped me organize the 2002 Type R Meet again to help me get this off the ground as well.

Mid to Late September on a weekend of course ( gotcha nate)

BBQ and guests are welcome but this is a Type R hosted Event

I was thinking this park down in the south suburbs, we had a few bbq's there before. Parking looked like it was sufficient so we can host a huge event plus there's BBall, VBall, Tennis and Softball availible at that park.

I was thinking this being a whole day event. I guess the only way that happens is if the attendance is huge that day. If it was a party of 5, the day would be long as heck!

If the first event was good, the second one's gotta be better. Whatcha guys think? My original idea was to have a bbq as i said in the first thread i posted about the Type R meet. That didn't follow through but this time i want it to be a bbq and once again, its open to all cars so think of it more or less as a honda-tech meet but its hosted by the Type R's of Chicagoland. I still want to do the Honda-tech meet seperatly if its possible but if everyone wants, we can kill the HT meet and call it a day with this Type R event.

Those were the thoughts on the event. Calling all you guys out there for suggestions and idea's with the event. I had a conversation with Nate today about the honda-tech meet and he asked me what was up with it. I told him that i wanted to kill it and he asked why. I told him that i wanted to kill it because not too many ppl took interest in it. I hope this event spikes some interest. Start Posting idea's guys. I hope we get this event going on and further make the midwest honda-tech scene a little more interactive. Thanks guys.

I know alot of people are going to be at Battle on the 14th\15th and in the South Burbs Area.

Yellow Dragon is gonna definately be up here from Kansas...could turn out to be a real nice BBQ\Meet.

Kenny, you know I'm down, and I'll bring plenty of ice cold...ehhh..refreshments. I think Saturday the 14th would probably be a good date. But I'm open to suggestion, so if anyone has another idea let me know. The park in Naperville would be all good. Just keep me posted on what you guys want to do. Also for any H-T members that are interested, party at my crib this Saturday.

Why does every meet you wanna have gotta be ITR related. Just call it a honda meet or Honda-Tech meet. Alot of people(not myself) are afraid to come around when they see that name"ITR"(why i dont know). I was going to swing by the recent meet ya just had, but due to a little to much hanging out on friday it kept me from coming up to say hey

Not flaming or anything, just adding my 2cents. Also I thought you all was planning to have the Honda-TEch meet the weekend of Battle? Why not just have a meet down there? Have a certain area for parking, Bring a few portable grills and have a little meet there. More than likely on Saturday since that day is for peeps to there time runs in, and sunday being the main event.

O.K. Gong, Just to put you at ease, the last meet was a Type-R meet only. Which you can tell by the pictures. The reason the BBQ is Type-R related is because the idea originally was started by all of us R owners over the weekend. Plus we are the only ones so far that are actually trying to do any organizing of this meet. We've got love for all Honda's, but no one seems to be stepping forward to help plan this event. So for the time being it is a BBQ open to all, put on by ITR owners. Hope that calms things down a bit.

Also, the majority of us R owners don't care or participate in drag racing, therefore having the event by the battle seems pointlesss to most of us. Just my .02

Once again, this BBQ is open to anyone. The date and location is not set in stone yet, any suggestions would make this planning a lot easier instead of just posting, "yeah i'll be there". We are thinking of doing it the second or third weekend of Sept. probably either in Naperville or Busse Woods. That is all the info as of now.

Thats great and all and everything is all love. And no need to calm me or things down y0, I said Im not trying to flame. I mean heres one thing we have to look at, I dont think theres that many member from Chicago or IL on this board. So therefore there wont be much of anybody stepping up to help out if they dont know about it. most people in this area are on gaySI or MWIR(or whatever its called).

And also alot of people dont come to the ITR forum unless they have a tech question they want answered right away. You post this in the members forum, it will be on page 4 by this time anyway. And i dont know if its been added to any other forums or not. Im not one thats big on meets anyway, but i was trying to add a little fuel to the flame and see what would happen.

And I said battle, because I know alot of people come from out of state for this event. I dont give 2 ***** about dragracing either, but it beats sitting at home doing nothing while all your friends are out hanging. So im sure alot of other people feel that way, thats why I said have it at the battle. ANd I know it had been talked about before(thats all).

Not trying to get into any type of battle about a Meet bro.

Well I dunno what we exactly wanted for a mid to late September meet but I suggest doing a Chicago/Milwaukee/wherever else is local H-T meet. Then start a thread in various forums as a sticky and only post in one thread, say in the Teg or Members Forum.

The plan so far is to have the BBQ in early to mid September. Probably at a park in Naperville, or Busse Woods in Schaumburg. Anyone thats going should try and bring some food to cook up or some beverages...is beer allowed in most parks??? Anyways, the date is still up in the air, and I need some feedback from everyone who is planning on attending to get a date set in stone. I was thinking Saturday Sept. 14th. How does that sound to the rest of you? I'm open for whenever as long as it's a weekend so let me know what the rest of you think. The quicker we get the plans set the easier everything will be, instead of wondering what the **** is goin on. So let's keep this thread alive and get things rolling. Hope a lot of you can make it. Post your ideas

I was kinda thinking at Orland Park Centennial Park. It's a very nice place it has vball court, softball, and close to is the Water park.. If you wan't I can take some pics of the place so you get the idea of it... It's also 10-15 min away from Route 66..

Well, to my understanding, there is an AutoX going on September 22nd. THat date looks like its a 22nd. How's the 29th for everyone? Its the last Saturday of the month. Why not?

GoingShow - Nate covered everything i had to say. THe event was born at the ITR Meet, the idea is being thrown on out the ITR board and i drive an ITR. I was happy with the meet and i wanted to do another ITR event for the end of the year while its still nice out. Thus we came up with a BBQ but we wanted a bigger crowd. The event is still an ITR Hosted event but its open to honda-tech and guests of guests are always welcomed. The meet was a different thing. THis is more open.

The BBQ wasn't exactly a drag thing. I don't drag, you dont drag. I didn't intend on this being a drag event so the Honda-tech meet could have been good but as of right now. I'd rather switch it over to this BBQ instead. That battle of the imports thing was centered as a "drag" event. The BBQ is more open to everything, not just drag. Whats everyone's opinion on this?

I must agree with what you said. Do you think we can move this post over to the members corner? I say this because everytime i come on, i never use the members corner, i just use the ITR forum cause i guess its natural for me to. You do have a point though.

The park is off I-55 going south off Lemont Road North. Its Past the dominicks a lil bit and on the right hand side. Anyone in that area that can vouch for that park??

The reason I was suggesting the 'weekend' of Battle, is because of so many H-T peeps and ITR Guys who will be in town who normally wouldnt.

That's All, I'm down for any meet unless its ona Sunday really. Saturdays are Best...
