Default 178.8 WHP ITR

I have a ITR with Comptech 4-2-1 mig welded headers, apexi V-AFC controller, AEM CAI, Spoon camshafts, Spoon camgears.
i got my car tunned for 3hr and only pulled 177.8.
i was wondering is this right? or did the guy not tune it right?
i was there when he tunned it and he hardly touched the camgears, he messed wih it for a while then he messed with the V-AFC controller and thats were i made my power. But now my check engine light comes on and it says im too righ!
so i dont know what to do.
does anyone have an opinion on what should i do or what should i get like an exhuast because i dont have one, running on stock itr exhuast.

what are the specs on Spoon cams? 178.8 is low for a car with aftermarket cams... Find a better Tuner.

find another tuner, doesnt look like that guy knew what he was doing. i put down 174 whp on 17" racing harts with a vafc, comptech header, hi-flow cat, and exhaust. i just installed toda spec b cams and cam gears so i will have to see what im putting down now when i get it tuned.

Your peak WHP doesn't seem as high as some of other people's, but what about your midrange? When you compare the baseline dyno graph to the final dyno graph, do you see a huge different in the midrange power? 178WHP seems to me like camgear wasn't messed around at all... you should be able to put down that number with just I/H/C + cams + V-AFC.

If you need a new tuner, I say you talk to one of the Honda-Tech ITR/Tech forum members. There are several talented tuners on this board throughout the country who will help you out for a minimal cost (beer).

agreed... anyway you can post your dyno sheet- and maybe rattle off a few of the settings- someone here (with more talent than I) should be able to give you a better heads up on what may be wrong and how to correct it.

178 whp is still not bad, but it seems like it should be better

later

well, all I can say is that I pulled 178whp with just USDM Mugen headers and AEM.

I think its the cams.

The Spoon cams from what I understand are only slighly more agressive than the R cams thus the slight power increase.

But still with those mods, I would find a different tuner and see if they can find a few more ponies for you.

Oh yeah........run open header for a pass or two..........if you see a HUGE increase that could be a sign the exhaust is holding you back. Your mid range should pick up a few ponies running open header.

As soon as I wire up my P73 I will dyno my C5 with an AEM/ DC / TRM + VFAC to see if my baseline is similar.........from what I have seen the newer R motors with the slightly more agressive stock cams baseline near 170/118-120 so with I/H/E I would hope for at least more than 10 hp.

I've seen an ITR with spoon cams, Comptech header....a few other mods pull 190WHP on the dyno.....You should be able to squeeze a little more even with the stock exhaust.

Can't really compare numbers from different dyno's. What is your baseline, because what really matters is how much you gained with the tuning.

I always wonder why people don't get a baseline. It's a shame spending all that money to tune and not know how much you gained.

get a fuel presure riser to adjsut most of your fule settings, then fine tune with the vafc. you cant jstu crank up a shitload of fuel with the apexi, thats where your code is coming from after about 12% increase its gonna throw

I was at +25% on my VAFC with no code. But I know that the VAFC is not that good at adding fuel, so I would say go get a FPR!!
