The S2000 is really popular for these hoaxes, regardless of how badly we wish for it to be true. The ideas are fairly clever, and would make you want to believe it to be true -- I'll just wait until the word comes from Honda..
The 280 hp limit respected by Japanese manufacturers is true.
The "unknown configuration" of the next NSX is true also - no V8 has yet been confirmed - but supposedly the RL is to get a V8 to compete with the likes of Lexus and Infiniti. This means that Honda will have a V8 block in their stables to possibly go into the NSX (but who ever knows).
The current S2000 was attacked by the press for it's poor daily tractability in daily traffic (feels anemic due to low torque motor). Now Honda's competitors are lining up with offerings with much more power i.e. Lancer EVO, WRX STi, Corvette, Mustang Cobra, Nissan Z etc etc.
Honda is also moving into the IRL (more V8 development??) and will really want to promote their marque as a performance oriented - as their current position of being "green" has been met with lukewarm response.
Wake up Honda! America wants power......and LOTS of it.

Ick Gawd! When I first read this my stomach dropped - that's a good thing. Immediately after that I was wondering if I should sell my NSX (Nahh! I'll make myself swing for both of them)
Then I came back to earth. This is too good to be true. Honda developing a 3 liter inline 6 which would have to make the NSX that much better. So obviously, the NSX would be a V8 or maybe a detuned Formula 1 V10. This S2KR looks awesome.
Jeez, this read like an automotive wet dream.

Wouldn't it be called the S3000R? This just sounds way too good to be true. I like how they compare it to M Roadster, Boxster S, SLK 32AMG, saying how they raised the bar, but forgot to mention that those cars all cost at least $10-20k more than the S2000! The S2000 just force those brands to head up market because they couldn't make a car that outperformed the S2000 for $30k. A 360hp S2000 weighing 2400 pounds, in my dreams maybe. If something like this came out would it be badged a Honda or "Acura"? And more importantly would it make it across the ocean, or end up like the S2000 Type V which I understand isn't all that its cracked up to be anyway. Whatever, I'll believe it when I see it.
Good point. . .it wouldn't make it to the US shores anyway. They'll offer it in Europe and Japan but not the US. Damn, why does Honda do that?
I'm all emotional the friggin' car isn't even a reality.
